    Hi Gang,

Many of us have parted out 70-72 Skylarks in the past, and may have some re-plateable interior plastic pieces floating around the garage, or in "that box" in the basement.

I am currently trying to put together and inventory of pre-finished re-plated and detail painted plastic chrome interior trim, so I can supply your resto needs in a few days, not weeks, or months some times..

I am looking for these parts from 70-72 Skylarks, dash parts are the same on the 2 and 4 door cars.

    In the market for:

AC and non AC Dash gauge Bezels -- not broken, but worn out chrome/detail paint/woodgrain .. paying $25-50 each depending on condition.. (they warp under the heater controls)..

    Under column covers - $15.00

Radio Bezels - uncut- $20 each

18" armrest backing plates $20 each, with no broken tabs on the back, $10 each with one or more broken tabs

Once again, conditon of the plating/paint/woodgrain is of no concern to me, just looking for plastic that is not broken, that I can invest some money in, put in stock, and have when you guys are ready to make the dash pretty again.

More info on the plating + a new photo tutorial on making a shipping box for this stuff is here:

    thanks,

Just found 4 skylarks in a obscure scrapyard on Long Island.
I thought I knew them all!
From what I could see, the interiors were somewhat intact.
I'll be climbing in to pick them clean. I'll send you whatever I can recover.
Boy, I have to get a digital camera. You'd be amazed at some of the stuff I saw. How about a Henry J sitting at the bottom of a six car crushedstack!!!:af: :moonu: :stmad: :spank: :ball: :ball:

Techincally, its' Tri-Shield Performance doing this, as I won't be using any club money for this obvioiusly, as the club is a non profit deal... and I have bills to pay like everybody else..

I understand the distincitions often get blury... TSP...V-8 Buick.com, BPG... all kinda one in the same.. at least at the present time. TSP and this site are forever linked to us here, but the BPG is an elected position, so my being the head of that is not a for sure thing...

It's pretty simple really ... TSP is my job, and the V-8 board and the BPG are my hobbies. All require work, but only one pays..

Riv dash stuff may be coming.. plating and detail painting are easy enough to do, but inserts are another matter all together. I would have to take a close look at those dashes, to see what could maybe be done.

Take a picture of your dash, and throw it up here..

Nah... I know it is TSP doing the restoring, what I meant was that this club provides the impetus for people like yourself to take the initiative on stuff like this.

Here is the best dash shot I have now. The cover in front of the column is one large piece, and the strip in front of the passenger seat is one piece. They each have clear lettering illuminated from behind to show knobs in the dark. I'ff off to Disneyworld tomorrow and will get a better shot in a couple of weeks.

Whats the difference between the A/C and non A/C bezels? I looked all over the ones I have and can't see the difference. I'm sure I'm just missing something obviuos.

    Ya' Know... not sure..

Every one I have seen says "Air Cond" on the back, just above the LH Vent.

I will have a Non-AC one out shortly, and can then Identify what the difference is.

Every car I have had here, to date, has had AC. IT's more uncommon to not have it on a GS455/GSX than it is to have it, from what I have seen.

I "think" the mounting for the Heater controls may be different.

    Anyone know for sure?

I'm just going off the assumtion that if they bothered to mark the AC ones with "Air Cond" above the dash vent, then their should be a non-AC one... but ya' never know with the factories..

I think that if the car had the upper ventilation system, it used the A/C bezel.
No vent windows in the doors usually had this system. So, most of our GS's would use the A/C bezel even without A/C.
The non A/C bezels I have seen did not have the opening for the vent control. So, all 2 and 4 door post models should have the non A/C bezel if not A/C equipped.

    Mark

the only difference i can see between the ones i have is the left vent on an air dash is a vent and the non air dash has a block plate that is molded into the dash. even the non air one i have says "air cond" above the left block plate.

    JW,

See any difference? My non A/C is busted and I have one out of an A/C car to replace it. As far as I can see they are the same. They do have diferent part numbers but I think thats because one has the woodgrain and one doesn't.

    Re: rechroming plastic

Geez.. too many posts to keep up on.. thanks for bringing this back up Jim... I would have missed the questions.

Dan, I think we covered your questions in a private mail, but yes, we can do '65 stuff.

And Speedy.... yes, the bases will turn out just fine, as long as the repair is good.. need to use epoxy to fix them.. not super glue.

    Rob,

Then they should hold up just fine... ABS cement should work just fine.
