What is the best rings I can put in my race engine? 455. .038 over. 1611 Pistons. Close to 600 hp. Thanks, Brad.

Been there, tested that.. you won't see much power difference until you reduce both compression ring thickness and oil ring tension. But both those reductions require special provisions, and have their downsides.

If you use total seal gapless rings, use the gapless second ring, that seems to be more effective than the top ring, and is easier on the cylinder wall.

But since you have the pistons, the ship has really sailed on minimizing ring drag to increase performance. I would simply put a set of Hastings Racing Rings on it in the proper size, and spend the extra couple hundred that Total seal gets for a gapless set, elsewhere.
