    Good point Derek, never thought about that!!
    Since going deeper would only gain me 1/2" I don't think its worth it, I'll go wider, and also remove the cut out for the crossover at the rear, and go forward 1.5"

    my 401 Nailhead pan we extended 1.5 inches with pickup extension and front /rear baffles- added 2+ quarts to the capacity, and did not extend much beyond the crossmember. Still above the headpipes,

    Nailheads have a similar structure block like the 350... deep skirt, so the oil pan architecture is similar, VERY shallow the first 1/3 then the sump.

    They come that way..... (this starts out as a TA replacement pan). That is a depression that TA had them build into the die set to add extra clearance for the rotating assembly.
