Ok guys here is the final word for the picnic. Place: Bull Creek District Park and Greenbelt Located at: 6701 Lakewood Dr Austin, TX 78731 Date: 11/20/04 Time: 2:00 PM It is at 360 and 2222 (approximately) on Lakewood Drive. As you go south on 360 before 2222, Lakewood is a neighborhood to the right, and the park is on the left. It is the road that always gets closed by high water when it rains more than an inch or so... It is a big COA park and has plenty of parking and shouldn't be too crowded this time of year. Frank brooks will be bringing a BBQ trailer... he stated the following: It works well if people just bring what they want to cook, and they can either cook it themselves or turn it over to the grill hands and have it cooked for them! I have lots of room to cook for everyone. I can have 4 different mesquite fires going at once, if necessary, so bring anything you like to grill! Just for emphasis, No food will be provided. Also the Oldsmobile club will be joining in the festivities Please let me know if you will attend this event. see the weekend forecast here Thanks Phil Green Austin Area Buick Coordinator email: tx70gs@austin.rr.com
Unfortunately I am going to be out of town that weekend or I would be there in a snap (no windshield and all) since that park is just down the hill from my house. I have been wanting to meet all the Buick people that Patton speaks of so often. Thanks for inviting us Olds folks. Thats a good time for all. Hopefully I will make the next one if we are lucky enough to get invited again  . Ben Napier
Austin Area Buicks Phil, Who did the paint on your car it sure looks great. Did it set ya back much? I will be ready to paint my 71 soon and want to make sure it is a good one. I might even consider getting it done in Austin if the price is right. Did you do all the body work as well? I have a few pin holes I am going to weld up after metal is treated. Maybe I will meet up with you guys when I get my 71 up and running. Let me know if you guys need any hard to find parts for your cars a frequent all the local salvage yards for spare parts. Thanks, Steve :TU:
Steve my paint was done by a guy in San Antonio (near bandera), If you want more I can give you a ring. Let me know.
Phil, you happen to see what time you posted that reply????? 4:55 am..... And yeah, what does a good paint job run these days???
Quite a bit.... but not as bad as you think..... give me an email and we can talk about it more if you are concidering a repaint. :beer
Paint Job Phil, I am interested in speaking with the guys you used for paint & Body. I know a few in Boerne, but was impressed with the pictures and would like to get in touch with the same person who did yours look very clean. I found a 72 GS 350 in Boerne the guy wants $1000.00 but motor not in the car but he does have the original motor, but my wife didnt sound to thrilled when I told her lol. Let me Know Phil I know price would depend on Bady work Paint Etc. Thanks, Steve Johnson
I won't be able to make it... I have to work on Saturdays. According to the weathermen here at work it is supposed to rain.
No More Rain!! Well, the rain is off and on. If the streets are dry when I head out, I will still be bringing my car. Does anyone coming out today have a canopy for any cover if it does rain. The streets are dry right now in front of my house and I am staying overly optimistic that it will not rain, of course I did have to wash the car yesterday just to temp the rain gods a little! :Brow: Do we still have everyone on the last e-mail list coming out? To avoid the low water crossing, do I enter from 360 or 2222 (Sorry Frank I forgot, I know you already told me o No: )
Rainout It's a wash! Too much rain, I knew I shouldn't have washed the car yesterday! Maybe another day.
I took the grill out there just to spin the bearings (it had sat for a few months) and it rained the whole time on the road. Deserted park. We'll try again some other day. I did get this pic of Bull Creek, though:
