Feel free to paste in some 15" Ralleys. I already have them stacked in the garage with the rest of my car..lol
Nick, I'm afraid that I can't change the color of your car to silver. All I can do is work with the colors that are already there. A bright color like the yellow of Ray's GSX offers a lot of color changes because it's already working with a good solid primary color. I can put ralleys on though and will give it a go later tonight.
Bill, Any problems changing color on a black car? If not, when I got off of work I'll have a few pictures I might send ya, gotta see what would look best when it comes time to paint the beast.
Well, I've been practising pretty hard and it seems that I need some color saturation of some sort in order to make available a spread of colours that it can change to. Black and white don't seem to react well to changes in hue and saturation and have to be changed using more radical means. Problem is that I can change to other colors but I loose details and reflections and it ends up looking like primer. Chris Lott got me started by showing me the basics but I've yet to grasp how to change the whites, blacks, silvers. Etc. However I've found that the blown '65 Riviera from this thread reacts very well. I'll post them in a little while.
Cool I think your on to some 'ting here mon.. you outta start charging for your color services. I was thinkin bout paintin mine up tha other day and thought purple was too crazy but I likes it. I just can't get away from the yellow it already is tho.
Funny you should mention that, a friend of mine was asking how long it takes to do a color change. I explained that it depends, to do it correctly I need to create a new layer which is a copy of the original picture and strip away everything that isn't the body (sounds easy - isn't). That leaves a shell which I can then perform experiments in saturation and hue adjustments until I come up with a color that looks real. The reason I do this is so that when I change the color of the body the original layer underneath still shows all the original colours for the background and wheels, grill, glass etc... Sometimes it can take all night just stripping it down to the body shell. High res pictures help a lot because I can zoom in to the details. Chris Lott helped me get started with how to change the actual color but stripping the body shell off the car was something I decided to do to get better control over the detail (thanks Chris). I'm still having problems changing white and black cars (I'll let you know when I get on top of it George). and multi colored body panels are a pain too. Brightly colored cars seem to work best. Reds, yellows, greens...etc Anyway, after explaining all this to my friend when he asked (with a straight face) "how much do you get for each color?". When I tried to explain the Buick connection (we help each other) he scoffed and called me crazy. I must admit that it does take some time to do a good job. But I hear the compliments and appreciate them. I consider myself paid in full. Now if a Ch**y or F**D guy asked me to do it that would be another matter.
call me crazy, but i LOVE mopars plum crazy purple. my skylark is white now and i think im gonna stick with the white, but i may just go purple one day!!
I found a silver 65 on ebay. I brushed the roof red like mine is now. What do you guys think? Should I keep the red? or just go all silver. If I go all silver, I may just lose the roof rails too. btw, my interior is dark red/maroon.
what are you using to do it? i can select a car body in ten minutes max with the polygonal lasso. if you're going a color change, all you need to do is copy and paste that and then take a quick eraser to the headlights, windows and trim. going from this: to this: took me no more than about 30 minutes. th only real notiable flaws are on the front fascia...
