Nothing more fun that a car acquisition activity. Find one in Texas and I bet we could do the same with some planning. Last one we went on was a trip to Kansas. Too much fun!

Barrett Jackson is fine but no one pays attention to the sub $5000 cars they only catch super Sunday with cars that have more money than they are bid up to.

That's ok I'll take all the blame:D. Getting into Canada is the easy part, we let anyone in:rolleyes:. Getting back into the USA is a whole different story you guys are some strict SOB's. On a serious note call the US/CAN customs agency and explain to them what it is you would like to do and see if they have a problem with you doing it or if any of your "past indescresions" are causing you to be inadmissible to cross the border. That way you will know if you got the green light to make an offer on the car and be actually able to come see it. If you are unable to cross the border there's alternative methods on making the deal work if you so desire by having a third party up north help you out:).

Looks like mostly a '65 or '66. A 66 Sedan deville was my first car when I was 16.

I've already got a '70, but I've always wanted a '60 and just didn't have near the income for such a thing when I got my current Coupe Deville. Now I want a pair :)

If your collecting the decades, can a 1950 Caddy be far away? Your 70 is gorgeous! I never liked the 69's half ass taillights. I had a 1970 eldorado gun metal grey and black interior for many years. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Hahaha....I have been looking at '53-'56s also. Thanks for the compliment. Cadillacs just "fit" me. Drove my Coupe from Montana down to Vegas and back in 2016 with A/C blaring, getting 16 mpg, and never missed a beat.

I was crossing the coastal mountains of B.C. on the Coquihalla Highway and the Eldo left everything in its wake as we thundered up a huge inclined part of the road. Suddenly out of nowhere comes a Mazda RX8 with the high rear wing and ground effects with Green halo headlights (popular at the time ). Total rice burner. He catches us up and we are neck in neck going up the mountain. I shut off the A/C and i wave Goodbye ! That 500 with 400 Hp was one incredible torque monster of a motor and was the highest horsepower motor Cadillac ever built up to that point and remained so for decades until the latest stuff.
I love my Wildcat, but definitely had a many a Caddy moments.

Heh heh...I still do that every year in the Electra. Freaks all the a$$clowns in Bimmers and Rice-Rockets right out when that old Buick just pulls away from them quietly without breaking sweat...
Yup; same formula, except now it's Mitsus and Hondas. They might catch me in the corners, but they are left fall behind on the hills. The last Honda that tried to keep up to me doing 80-90 mph constant, pulled off in Kamloops smoking. I had to stop there for gas though, the car is very, very thirsty at those speeds.
The Buick big block and the old Nailhead aren't that far behind...though I'd like to actually try a period Caddie just to see how it performs.

I always thought the ‘70 spec 500 engine would be a hoot in either a ‘77-79 Coupe deVille or ‘80 Eldo. (Both were built with Caddy big block derivatives -425 and 368) and are about the lightest old school Cadillacs out there.

I know the specs are similar in factory literature, but either a 472 or 500, especially the high compression versions, and a stock Nailhead aren't even in the same county, let alone ballpark as far as power (I know that might not be popular here, but it is the truth). I'd bet money if you put a 1970 500 Cadillac and a 425 Nailhead on the dyno, the Cadillac would be +100 hp and +150 ft. lbs. of torque over the 425. A 401/425 Nailhead would perform favorably against a 390/429 Caddy, though.

Agreed; but a Buick Big Block, a 430 or a 455 is not too far off and possibly a better engine platform than the Caddie; not quite as dated, but I'm not sure; I haven't followed Cadillac engineering as much as Buick. Isn't the 500 the last incarnation of the original 1948 design? Or was it a completely new design?

I believe that what you're referring to would culminate in the 429 Cadillac as the original version of the old design. The 472/500 is a different animal. Guys were putting them in things like a-bodies and they run dang good in a lighter chassis, even stock. Would I put one stock for stock up against a 455 Stage 1? No. And I don't think even if a guy got super wild with one, a 455/stroker Buick built to the same type specs like the guys do on here would kill the Caddy. The 455 Buick as I've said before, is one of, if not the, best performing of all the non-exotic factory muscle car V8s. Caddy is still a great engine, though.

In contact with the fella, very knowledgeable and friendly (well, he is Canadian, the friendly part is pretty much standard issue hahahahha). Definitely the best price out there I've found for a decent '60, and needs just enough work that a guy gets to make it his own. Somebody BUY MY RIVIERA!!!!

I do remember our conversation when I first put the car up for sale, and I believe you gave your friend my number. Yes, '63 with a '65 grille but the lights are not the clamshells off a '65, the headlights are just moved out to the outer markers. I appreciate your help :).

Lucas, that Caddie looks sweet; - go for it! Hope you buy it!
Remember, you only live once, and even though there is no shortage of 60 Caddies out there, if this one hits your buttons and it's within reach, - go for it, you may never get another chance.
    Good Luck!
