I can't remember the name of the site, but there is a website that lists the actual selling prices of collector cars. Asking and real selling prices are often way apart.

I have noticed with all the venues with which you can sell cars/parts, alot of the listings , especially on Facebook Marketplace, the seller is looking for that one, uniformed, just gutta have it guy/sucker. They are not really interested in selling unless they can make a killing. ......bomb em with Spam....Jim

I was riding with a good friend in his pickup truck.
All the sudden he spots this 69 ford LTD out in someone's front yard for sale.
So we pull up in the drive way and he goes over to look at it and it is rough, all tires flat and dry rotted.
    Rotted out everywhere
He says to me I will get this thing for 200 bucks.
I start laughing at him, he says watch, I just want it for the motor & drive train.
I told him its a Barrett Jackson cream puff just jokingly.
It had a for sale sign in the side window with no price.
Here comes this elderly lady out of the house, she ask him what he thought about it, he starts laying his line on her and offers her 200 bucks.
Her jaw drops wide open and she tells him are you crazy boy, with some minor work and touch up you'll have a Barrett Jackson car.
We start laughing and he asked her well how much do you want for it, she said 5000 bucks and I will not take no less for it, it's a classic.
If I can't get that for it, I will let it rot into the ground.
I said well you don't have far to go.
We got back into the truck and started going down the road and my friend is silent for a moment, then he looks over at me and says man how did you know she was going to say that, you must have been there already.
I said danny, you know I am not a ford guy, it was a luck guess that's for sure.

A lot of the better cars are consignments from collections; the owner can afford to sit, and everyone is looking to maximize profit. They're greedy and can afford to wait it out. It's when the market starts to slump when things begin to get interesting, and these big expectation garage queens either get dumped or tossed into storage again. Right now the market seems to be changing; the resto-mods are what buyers with money are after, and the high dollar stock restorations are not as popular. Muscle cars took some severe hits, some were worth more, a lot were worth less in terms of keeping up with the resto costs and inflation, maybe not in actual dollars. So what it means is some of these high dollar never seem to sell type cars are going to quietly begin to disappear, either back from whence they came or a deal is done. Have patience; you've got one thing on your side that they don't anymore and that's time. These cars are only going to start to drop in value as the environmental movement gets going and public attitudes turn away from big old gas-guzzling cars. I can't predict when values will peak and then start the inevitable decline, but if it isn't within the next 3-5 years I'd be surprised. Look at what's happened to 50s- vintage tin outside of the "triple 5" Chevies; prices are plummeting, same with the 40s-iron that was untouchable 20 years ago. And even more telling, true classics are flat and declining with a lot of "no sales" in auctions. Tastes change, and so do prices.
Wait them out. It took me 3 years before I finally got my 46 Buick for what I wanted to pay for it.

I think prices are declining they are picking up on the square body chevy trucks and 3rd gen Camaros. I think your best bet is to wait a couple of years and the price will come down. If you get antsy then show up at a dealer and say I have x cash will that buy it or where do we have to be and if they still don't move then walk out. Make them think you have all of the money but the car isn't worth that now. Also pick the car apart a little and say you were interested in the one they got there price from and it was better.

Cadillac. I will just leave this here.

I'm looking for a 1960 Cadillac Coupe Deville. Only a Coupe Deville or a loaded series 62, no flat tops, convertibles, or sedans. No '59s or '61s. I don't care how cheap a 4 door or convertible is, I want what I want :). This might be the last car I build as I'm satisfied with what I've got plus one of these cars. Like I said I'm kind of keeping it on the down low because I guarantee I know every one listed on the net, but if anybody happens to know a private sale or someone with a well kept one for 25k or so, I'm all about it.

Hey Lucas I think this is what you're after bro! If it is and your serious about coming to Toronto Ontario, Canada to see it I'll pick you up at the airport personally and take you to see it. Just for the record this is not my car nor do I know the owner I'm just trying to help a brother out to get his dream ride hence why I offered to chauffeur him to see it :). The price in CDN$$ would equal out to $26,621.03US$$

1960 Cadillacs are cool, and I understand the appeal compared to the '59.

I would think it wouldn't be too hard to find one from a normal person. Do you belong to the national Cadillac club? Have you looked on the AACA website?

We have a local dealer in Seattle with a super nice Hunter green gs350 n-25 that I would consider buying except it is listed for $23,995 and the last dealer had it listed for $19,900 for quite a few months before it sold. Uh what?

The classic flip; - I hope that clown goes under with it and sits on it for a year. There's always a few that figure they know better than the market does. One case in point that was posted on this site somewhere was the moron who had a 69 Charger that he crushed out of spite, which he thought was worth a million dollars, but for some inexplicable reason no one else did. There are lots of guys who figure just because the car has this and that, that others will fall over themselves with cash in hand to pay for it. They're all pretty sadly mistaken; all it takes is a good walk around this site and the Buick experts here, many who won't pay anywhere near that amount for that car. That on it's own should be telling, and if I was looking to do a flip I'd research my market. I currently deal in antiques and antique watches, and the one thing I know is, it's a hard thing to convince someone to part with money for something they really don't need, but they only just sort of like. That's where our cars are at too.

Classic barrett/jackson syndrome they see a x car pull X money and automatically they think the same car they have is worth the same $$. Even though it lacks this or that rare option. I think Barrett/Jackson is the worst thing to ever come to the car hobby.
