Does the passenger side sport mirror sit in the same spot on the door as the driver side. Meaning does it sit at the same measurement from the edge over and edge down? The guy who painted my car, I gave him the measurements for the holes but he told me the at weren’t like the driver side so we didn’t drill them.
Cheers, I just measured the mirrors on my GSX ,they are the same. A little over 8 inches back measured from the front of the mirror to the front door edge. Is the car a 70 or is the drivers door a 70? The mirror mount on a 70 door is farther forward except for the GSX( a few inches forward),71-72 doors are all farther back because sport mirrors became an option

This was taken from the chrome mirror on the driver's side. I compared this dimension to several other A-body cars I own and notice this dimension only appears correct for early 70 models. The dimension for 71-2 models is another inch towards the rear....8.125". You can measure from the leading edge on the driver's door and do the same for the passenger door. The dimension shown can range from 7 to 7.125" for 70 models and 8 to 8.125" for 71-2 models.
