I just wanted to follow up and say that the TH200-4R is great. This thing feels as solid as any 400 I have owned. It has great manners driving around town and being able to click into OD on the highway is perfect. Unlike other transmissions I have had, it does not bust your teeth at part throttle. However, under full throttle it is super firm and quick to shift. It has no problem at all handling these power levels. I am very pleased.
Still thumbs up. Drives great around town and handles mid 11 second quarter miles no problem so far. Mine was about 2k with a converter & dipstick.
Was reading thru this thread and generally liked it till I came across this post. Lots of misinformation here:error: I'm running a 236.5I/242E @ .050 duration-.525/.550 lift cam along with 3.42's in the rear and it works outstanding with a 700R4 . I like the ratio difference. When is low end torque a issue with a BBB anywayuzzled: My 455 is setup like this: Heavily modified TQ-Gessler prepped B4B Intake Manifold-Gessler S1 Aluminum Heads-a 236.5/242 @ .050 cam-the 455 is zero decked with TA SRP pistons-11 to 1 static C.R and a full weight 72 GS. 500 HP? I'd be willing to bet it is and I've have never had any issues with the 700R4 I'm running. Huh? Didn't understand this at all. The adapter plate is the easiest thing their is about the swap. It takes maybe 5 minutes to put it on. Mine will shift into OD at full throttle but whats the point? By that time the speed is wayyy up there and I'm ready to get out of the throttle. Looking back the hardest part about the 700 install was I had to elongate the notches on the cross member that the rear tranny mount bolts to because it sits back further than the T400 does. That took a couple of tries and also the drive shaft had to be shortened. All in all it was a fairly easy swap and I would choose the 700 again.
