Finally. Congrats. How soon before it's in?

I probably won't get into the motor install until November.

    How about you?

Oh, so the the new tranny is going directly on the LS. I'm getting there. Tranny and rear are in now it's just a matter of getting all the little things connected. Last night I kinked a transmission cooler line while bending it to fit the new tranny. Crap like that really slows down the process when an hour here or there is all the time I have to work on it.

Sure does. I made my left front brake line 3 times before I was satisfied with it.

Hey Hillbilly; I have the spex and what I need to make the plate. I can use Chebby motor mounts, but the frame pads are the catch. They look kinda like the 455 frame pads from TA to switch from a 300 to a 455. I suppose I could get the frame pads, bolt the motor mounts to them, make up the plates, put in the holes just for the engine bolt up then drop it in and match up the holes for the motor mounts. Or bolt up all Three and drop it in and level it out. Let the frame pads fall where they may. Mark the holes, yank it back out and have at it. Either way would work really. It's just getting up the ambition. Depression suck's.

It only took 2 1/2 months to get mine. Hopefully yours will come sooner.

Thank's Nekk: Now I just have to build up some confidence in myself! I've done it before, I just have to do it again. I took my 350 up to 6500-RPM. It wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. So I just put it up into Drive. It finally shifted. I was hauling ass too. I never tried that before. I've taken it to 5500 But I was scared to go any further. I think was my faith in my build quality. I guess I can go up to 6 even and call it good. I built it as close to tolerance as I could, I need more tolerance in myself. Guess that's why the 'ole lady left. No tolerance and no confidence. I gotta just keep trying. I'm getting closer.

How is yours coming Bill? I am planning on starting on mine after Old Towne. While I finally have my transmission and torque converter, Lonnie never did deliver on the TV cable kit. After a month of asking for it, he finally just told me to go directly to Bowtie Overdrives and buy it myself and he would reimburse me for it. So, I ordered it from them today. They said I can expect to have it next Wednesday or Thursday.

I sure hope this trans is everything everybody says it is. By the time I get this TV cable set up, it will have been 4 months since I ordered it from Extreme Automatics.:Dou:

    I have a th-200-4r in my 66 skylark conv.
I also used a 65 chevrolet 10 bolt posi rear end. The length of thr trans should be the same as a th350, but i had to have the akxle shaft shortened about 1 inch. (i used ta perf engine brackets that moved the engine back about 0,5 inches.)
I bougth the trans from Bowtie overdrives including a 2600rpm converter and tvcable and tvcablebracket. (level 3 transmission)
Be sure to adjust the TV cable correct !
I can recommend the TV cable and bracket from bowtie overdrives.

Good luck with your overdrive trans !

Tranny and rear have been in for a few weeks now but I just got the exhaust re-installed last weekend. I set up the tv cable last Saturday but I'm not comfortable with the line pressure. It idles at about 80psi but it should be about 90. When I rev the engine the pressure climbs but not enough to make me comfortable to drive it. I'm going to call CK tomorrow morning and he's going to walk me through the setup. I hope to have it on the road tomorrow. You're probably better off getting the TV cable system from Bowtie. I've read that it's foolproof if you follow their directions.

The driveshaft came back from PST today and I installed it. Now I just have to find a little time to hook up the parking brake cables and bleed the brakes. Then it is time to road test the new rear end.

Once that is all vetted I can do the motor and trans swap. Fun stuff.

Wow, the car drives different with the 3.90 gears. The 300" could not even spin the one wheel on sandy pavement before. Now it will spin both tires on a clean road on take off and I have not even really matted it from a dead stop yet. The stall converter does not feel like it is slipping all the time either. Much more enjoyable around town. 55 is about maximum cruise to keep it below 3000 RPM though, so she is wanting the overdrive installed before I hit the highways.

Hi Steve, How's that 3.90 rear end working for you? I put in a 3.55 Posi with the intent of a 455 drop in. I have a 350 now but just picked up a 340 which I plan on breathing on a bit. I dropped the big block idea, that is unless i can over-haul my 425, and find the 6 piece motor mounts under the price of gold. I plan on a 3.73 gear to go with it. It's a street car and does 2 Grand at 70. 4th gear lock-up. Oh, it's an '87 BRF. I really don't want to go any higher, even with a small block. I'm 61 Years old and have never been to a strip my whole life. Imagine. But with a high rear end like your's, I think you'll be seeing a lot of strip time. A Big Block with a 3.90 on the street, I don't know. Seem's as tho it would be really cranking. But with a final of 2.61 I guess it would be ok. Quick shifts would be the rule I guess. Even with mine ( 2.378 final ) things happen fast. Good luck with your build and sure like your car. A sinister sleeper.

You have this thing buttoned up now? How is your CK tranny?

It's been running for about a month now and I'm happy with it. Shifts at light throttle are smooth but quick. Wide open throttle shifts will get rubber in 2nd and 3rd. No leaks. Chris is always only a phone call away if I need him. All I need now is some more power under the hood. I'll be hitting you up for some tips when I go the LS route.

That is great to hear. I can't wait to see it.

As for the LSX, I will be putting the cam in this weekend. The only part that I am waiting on is the oil pan. Mast Performance is expected to have them done next week.

Sounds like you're getting close. Will a 200-4R bolt up to an LS block or do you need an adapter?

The housing bolts up. You just have to use the correct flywheel and spacer for vehicles that came equipped with the 4l80e transmission. Then you have to slightly slot those torque converter bolt holes in the flywheel.
