At least they are there doing a job.. give them credit.. Go to a Big store they ( the store) actually wants you to ring up out your items.. Bag them also... Next they will be wanting you to stock the shelfs.
Just leave your job in the middle of the day. 1:00 -2:00- 3:00. The streets are packed every lane. what are these people doing driving around all day. Not working.
I worked the Night Shift every chance I got. But I didn't drive around the streets all day either. Still say pay a decent wage for what you want done and you will find help. When I was a kid growing up on a farm a farm down the road had really nicly painted up buildings and grew great crops, always had kids to help put up hay. Was always a bunch of moaning by other farmers they couldn't find help. Of course all the surrounding farmers includeing my dad said the guy was nuts paying the kids a whole dollar an hour to work around the farm. Minium wage back then was 1.25 at in town stores and such. But most of the farmers who couldn't get help would pay a whole dollar a day for help. Al
After visiting my sister Fri, after work, I went to a new KFC, drive thru was lined out to the apron, hmmmm, I better park and go in. I go in, order extra crispy chicken, cashier asks for my name, I said "Mark" I sat down along with the 15 other customers waiting for their orders and look at my receipt, it says "Bark" OMG whos first name is "Bark"? Theres at least 12 young kids behind the counter wandering around like Day of the dead. A worker calls a customers order, "Its gonna be about 18 mins for the Original Recipe" Customer replies "just gimme whatcha got" Again a worker calls another order "Were outta Original Recipe" customer replies "gimme whatcha got" Im thinking, good thing I got crispy! A worker calls me, "BAAARK," were outta thighs, are a couple drumsticks ok?" " just gimme whatcha got" A customer comes back in after waiting 45 mins for their order yelling " gimme my money back, this is bullshit, 45 mins for chicken, Im calling corporate" Well, I got my order, and a Pepsi, walk out to the GS, hell I cant get outta the parking lot now, the drive thru is out to the street, and people cant get out either. Get in the GS, and very gently set the Pepsi between my legs, I feel cold in my crotch then my ass, **** THE FUCKING LID IS LEAKING

I’m with Briz on this one. I too started out at 5.25/hr in the late 80’s but was also recently divorced and paying child support so I was netting like $2.50/hr. I had 2 roommates and lived on $1/day for food. Usually a party pizza or a can of veggies with rice. I too moved up the ladder. Started out stocking at a drug store, then was promoted to head receiver, the to asst. manager, then eventually to manager. I took that management experience and started a business with my dad and brother. In the early tent rental days it was me and a 62 year old putting up everything. An average week was 65-70 hours but 80-90 was common. At one point I worked over 65 days straight. Today one can live on $12-$15/hr but most are unwilling to rent a room and not a house or apartment they can afford. Now to the other side of the story. I have about 50 full time employees but during busy season it ramps up tp over 100. Finding those extra 50 employees is a constant struggle. We hire 5 to start tomorrow and are lucky if 3 even show up. Of those 3 maybe 1-2 make it to day 2 and that is if we feel they are good enough to keep. I have more than a dozen tent installers who make $45k-$70k per year and can talk till I’m blue in the face to a new here about how if he works hard and learns he can make good money with us. They/most anyway want the money now and aren’t willing to put in the time and effort to be valuable to the company and thus compensated accordingly. Now that you know my work ethic I’ll say that I have a 35 year old son/step son who worked with me years ago. He left for Colorado bounced around at different jobs and ended up working at a tent company there. They loved him and moved him up quickly to $15/ hr. Not a ton but with 20 plus hours of OT he was doing ok. Then breaks up with his girl, drinks too much and loses his job. Ugh. Fast forward to 5 months ago him and his new wife move into my house rent free. I find them a great deal on a car but other than that $3000 they save almost nothing. I don’t know how that is even possible ugh again. Anyways he’s working for me now. Started at $12/hr and after his 90 days bumped him to crew leader at $14/hr plus bonuses. Thank God she had a small 401k they cashed out to get a place. I had to tell them October 31 was last day. Time to get out. I feel they would have stayed forever if we let them. Anyway they are supposed to be out today. (Insert praying hands here) Rant over Sorry Cliff
Foreigners usually take the jobs that we don't want to do. The late senator John McCain once said that you couldn't get Americans to pick Lettuce in Tempe, Arizona for $50 per hour. The same is true of picking Oranges, Tomatoes, or installing roofing here in SW Florida. Driving an automated trash collection truck here is a decent-paying job, but every driver that I have seen appears to be Hispanic. Non-Hispanics don't want to pick up 500 trash containers every day.
That's a City Job. Not always easy to get in, if you aren't from there, or don't have the right contacts. Believe me, that how it works in El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley.
I kinda don't think that's the case here. Our trash is picked up by Waste Management, a private contractor that works for the county. I doubt that the county has anything to do with Waste Management's hiring.

My thought it is too easy to live off of government assistance and not work, I know some people NEED it but do all the people who receive it should be getting it? What if they have the attitude they deserve it? My oldest daughter works as a cashier at a grocery store, a few years ago (she was 15) had 2 ladies come through her line and a hundred and some dollars of groceries was going to cost them like $8.00. They went ballistic threatening to call the cops, THEY GET THEIR GROCERIES FREE!! THEY DON'T PAY ANYTHING!! They raised a stink threatening a lawsuit and everything. Come to find out they bought something out of the deli counter and it was not covered by their food stamps. They still didn't get it because THEIR FOOD IS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE!! I have a rental hose and numerous times applicants have gotten upset with me because I don't accept section 8 housing assistance. Yet they respond to my texts/emails on their smartphones, smoke and have 1 or 2 dogs, even though the application says no smoking/no pets. They can't afford housing but they can have fancy phones, expensive habits and pets that cost a lot of money? Again, I realize some people need assistance but I also feel it is way too easy to get assistance and not work. The rules need to change and maybe have a sliding assistance scale so if you work it isn't all or none on the money you receive until you get on your feet or your kids are out of needing child care

I still haven't seen a trash truck driver here who didn't appear Hispanic. Maybe Waste Management is racist and will not hire non-Hispanics as drivers - I haven't checked, nor do I intend to. I don't claim to be a retired teacher with 23 years experience. I was. I never wore a political button nor did I ever state anything to the students that could be considered racist. I don't think I have said anything here that could be considered racist either. Florida has a law that requires farmers and fruit growers to hire American citizens before they can use non-citizen labor. If you are an American citizen and want to pick Oranges in 95-degree heat wearing long sleeves on a tall ladder (Orange trees have thorns) you will be hired even if the farmer/grower has to discharge a non-citizen to hire you. I have lived here for three years full-time and I have never seen a Orange or Tomato picker who appeared to be non-Hispanic. I guess in a couple of posters opinion that makes me a racist. BTW: A good Orange picker can earn $12 to $14 an hour. I don't know what picking Tomatoes pays.

But this is just the icing on the cake. Look at your friends and relatives. This will freak you out. From the late 90’s to 2005. Look at the kids that were born in that time frame. analyze them look at their accomplishments . And what they have done threw Highschool and if they have jobs. Or what kind of trouble have they”be been in. and their attitude . We have made a list in our family and ALL the people we know. Judge them and ask yourself. Are they F€£Ked up. What issues do they have? And i’ll bet None have them are on a straight line. Try that test. It will blow your mind. This is the truth. But why? Is it a vaccination . Thing. I love conspiracies . But every kid in my life. In my domain. Has serious issues. and the list is very long.
