Original 70 -72 GSX Rear Spoiler Brackets

I am posting this for information only.

Pictured here are some Original 70 -72 GSX Rear Spoiler Brackets.

The shorter pair were taken off a 70 White GSX (You can see the paint on the parts.)

The longer one was taken off an original 72 car.

You can see the difference in length. Originally the 70 spoilers came with a shorter pedestal. Then the 71-72 style wider pedestal spoilers were introduced so the brackets needed to be extended. These longer units were also installed on some 70 cars if the "replacement" 71 style spoilers were installed at the dealership level as repairs under warrantee.

You can see that both types were stamped into their respective shapes, with the raised lips being punched in and NOT folded over like the repros.

I believe these parts are already spoken for so PLEASE don't ask to buy them, or to "get in line". If they do come up for sale I will decide what to do with them at that time.

Just wanted to post these pics while they are still here.

Thank you very much Duane, excellent info to have on hand to confirm if I find some unknow application brackets.

The spoiler is off a 70 Saturn car for sure & is still painted and striped, and fortunately for my car it does have damage that will match my car perfectly.

Thank you again for taking the time to
lay that out and document it as well as alert me to the thread : )

Yes Sir Bill, but I am not aware of who.
In my case,no matter how rough it all is I am building my dream car I could never afford today so trying only to build it with as many factory 1970 GM parts as possible.
It may look rough but I want to be surrounded by 1970 & not 2019 : )
Maybe one day I will find a stripped out real 70 X to transfer to or paint mine.
Regardless to me though it will at least be as correct as I can make it if I pulled up a chair at a Buick dealership in 1970
    : )

Both the Factory style Studs and Large "Sheet metal/Fiberglass" screws are not reproduced, and I believe only one size of the brackets are reproduced and I am not sure which size that is.

PS. The Large screw also has a completely different thread design then anything else that was used on the car, due to threading thru fiberglass.

It looks like the hole placement is the same for the 70 & 71-72 style Brackets. The only difference is the 71-72's are longer to support the longer pedestals.
