    Missed, by that much...

Got a phone call from a buddy last night, "You want a '72 Skylark for $100? A kid in the neighborhood has it, and just did a "tune up" on it. He doesn't know how the spark plug wires go back on, and he can't get it to run. He wants $100 to get it out of the yard."
"WHERE IS IT?! I'M ON MY WAY OUT THE DOOR!" (I'm thinking to myself, at this point "1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, $100, and I'll DRIVE IT home")!
He told me where it was, and as I was looking at it, the "owner" came out, and said "It's already sold, this morning".:ball:
Ok, I'll wait til the "new" owner comes to get it, then I'll get it from him, as I do with ALL of my cars. I just need a name and address of WHO owns it, and WHERE the car moves to...:Brow:

'72 Skylark Custom, 350-4, YELLOW, PERFECT White Interior, NICE Buick Mags!
I'll get pics when "I" get it...:bglasses: :TU:

This is a good reason why "kids" SHOULDN'T have these cars (but then again, it's a good reason why they SHOULD, so I CAN BUY THEM!):bglasses:

You fixing it or parting it? I need the white (door panels without wood?) interior if your parting.
    Thanks

I was thinking of you, Greg, BUT, it has the WOOD door panels that you DON'T want. If you want ALL WHITE door panels, you might as well save your money and buy NEW ones from Year One or Original Parts Group. It will be almost impossible to find what you want, because you are looking for a RARE part, and you may not be happy finding a USED part, regardless of how much it ends up costing. I know WHO wants WHAT and who HAS what, here, and I try to match Parts to People, if I can, and YOU just have a difficult request, even for ME to find.:TU: I still look, though. IF I find it, I'll let you know, but I don't have much confidence for THIS piece (White interior is VERY hard to find! I've only seen maybe 5 cars TOTAL, EVER, Personally, with a White interior). Too bad you don't want a '71 Skylark, I posted one in Cars For Sale, with a WHITE interior, but not as a "Parts" car.Good luck on your end!

    Scott,
My car is a driver so I'll be opening a major can of worms if I get new door panels and a new front bench, then the rear looks like crap and I'm in for a new interior that will cost what the car did. I would like to have it painted first so it looks good then decide whether to go all out on the interior.

Between cars, motorcycles, boats and guns my wife says I have too many hobbies so I have to ration my allowance.:Dou:

    Thanks for thinking of me.

    :TU:
Sounds like WE have a lot in common, as far as "Too Many Hobbies" go.
I've really cut back on "Too Many", and decided WHAT is MOST IMPORTANT.

Motorcycles are fun (had a Ninja, sold it to pay for Automotive School, to learn to rebuild my BUICK!):bglasses:

Boats are fun (I never owned one, because I want to get my BUICKS done, too much maintenance), but I can "borrow" my Mom's Jet Boat in the summer, to waterski.:Brow:

Guns are my 2nd biggest hobby! If I were recognized for my DRIVING SKILL, compared to as good as I SHOOT, my name would be Dale Earnhardt, too.:TU::laugh: (and I can relate Guns to my BUICKS, too. If I ever get REALLY frustrated with my BUICK, I have a .44 Magnum that I could use to "bore out the cylinders". Feelin' lucky, Punk? Go ahead, Make my day!:brow: )

If the BUICK is REALLY important to you, YOU'LL have to make the decision to "give up" the "other" stuff. I DID, because I like to attend the car shows in MY OWN car, not just to go SEE EVERYONE ELSE'S cars.
I hope you decide to make the Buick a Priority, because it's something that you WILL enjoy when it's done.
Go check out the topic "Who's got a DropTop?" and look for MY '70 Skylark Convertible. If I can spend "that little" and make a "junk" car look "that GOOD", YOU CAN TOO! You have to make it a PRIORITY, though! If you decide to do it, let me know, I'll try to help through here, if I can, and I'm sure you'll get PLENTY of SUPPORT from a LOT of these guys, here, too!:Smarty: :TU:

The best boat is always the ONE YOUR FRIEND OWNS!

I have too many hobbies too - Cars, R/C model planes, home brewing, model cars, then there's raising teenage daughters, finishing the basement, landscaping, yada yada yada...

I'll be dead before I finish, but I guess that's the way I like it!

Just finished a year long renovation of my kitchen. Next is the basement and my home office, then I can build a garage.

Hey Greg B, that looks like my kitchen I just re-did also. Are they Hagerstown cabinets? Looks great by the way.

Thanks. The cabinets are actually Thomasville - Home Depot licensed the name and has American Woodmark build them. I had a bunch of trouble with them - base cabinet depths ranging from 24" (correct) to 24 3/8", a staple protruding through the side, racing stripes where pieces were laid across a board while wet, etc.

The counter top guys didn't check the interior angle (less than 90 degrees) so the counter top is off (only I would notice) and the wood floor people installed the floors then wanted me to put the cabinets in before finishing the floors. They didn't want me to scratch the floors. They scratched 5 of 11 base cabinet doors.

So, we ARE speaking of "hobbies" now? Greg, That kitchen IS beautiful! It's funny, though, as we really ARE on the same track, except in different order (I finished my BASEMENT last year, and NOW I'm doing the kitchen)! I just bought my Hardwood Floor for my kitchen TONIGHT! It's in the planning stages, I already "drew" (oh, yes, another one of my "hobbies") how the kitchen will look as it is finished. Everything (cabinets, dishwasher, pantry, sink, counter, etc.) is on order, just waiting for all of it to get together to start "de"struction, to start "con"struction.:TU:
After the kitchen is done, I just have to redo the Bathroom, and my house is DONE!
On to the garage, I built an addition on to the side of my garage last year, but I haven't had a chance to completely Insulate it (actually, the Addition is insulated, for my "work" area, but the MAIN garage area is NOT insulated, YET, so I don't spend much time out there when it's cold! I'll go back out there in about April. ). Once I can insulate the WHOLE garage, and install my heater, so I can work on my cars YEAR 'ROUND, I'll be the happiest guy in the world! :TU:

Home improvement is definitely a hobby. I enjoy building things and seeing the fruits of my labor. Just like working on the car but my wife can appreciate it. Plus it got me the compressor to run the air tools. Here's what it looked like on February 18, 2002:

    Homework....

I wasn't supposed to have to work on the house - we built new last year. I couldn't resist sticking my finger in though and I'll be paying with my free time for another year.

My biggest deal was making all of the countertops myself - they are cast concrete. They came out pretty good, but talk about back breaking work. Maybe that's why I needed disk surgery at Christmas...

The basement was never part of the deal with the builder - he wanted $20k + just for interior finishes. It's 1900 square feet, and really a work in progress. We did get the pool table in, and my work room is finally set up. Have to build a bathroom and sauna, fur out the exterior walls, drywall, build a home theater, hang ceilings, etc. I probably should have just borrowed another twenty grand...
