Hey guys I have been doing tons of research on turbos on the buick 350 and I am in the middle of doing a setup now. The couple of questions I have are when adding a turbo in my case a gt45. How much oil in addition to the normal amount will there be. The next is with the oil return I understand at least a 10an fitting and it goes in the front skinny section of the oil pan, but how far can you go. The last is I am where have you guys found the best placement for o2 sensor, I used the stock manifolds and did a crossover then did a u turn up. I also just want to say thanks to everyone for all the great info I have all ready seen you guys gave me the confidence to jump into this.

I throw an extra half quart into the oil tank to account for the turbos. I never calculated anything, thought it seemed good. As for the oil return line, I ended up welding a barbed fitting at a 45 degree angle (towards the front). This is needed to gain room around the crossmember and steering link. I have the 10 AN hose hooked to the barb fitting with a hose clamp. Simple enough and it doesn't leak. As for the O2 sensor I have one on each downtube. As you see on the passenger side, I didn't take in to account the length of the O2 sensor (~3 inches) and it has made a couple of nicks in the firewall. The driver side is even harder with the location of the brake booster and steering. I only have one wideband right now, but welded the bung on each downtube so I can switch the sensor if I want. Welcome to the Turbo club and have some fun! I had no idea how to do turbos prior to this forum as well so there is a great deal of knowledge here.

I run a single s475 BW turbo and use a -4an feed and a 12-an return. On a smaller frame turbo -10an will be fine. Try to make as a straight of a shot as possiable for oil return.

Have you done any mods to the carb to make it handle the boost? Be sure to get an air fuel meter before you drive the car anymore!

Yes it is a holley blow thru using hanger 18 mods. I know I know I want to drive it so much but I don't want to blow the motor.

Also here is an article that I wrote about Turbocharging... I am sure you already know most of this info as this is a basic intro to help more people get into turbos but it features a Buick 350 so I will post a link to it... Click on the pics and then you can zoom in to read each page:

Very cool thanks for the pics and info. My next step is definitely time to learn how to tune a carb. I have had other turbo cars but not to much into the tunning. Since I got my newest subaru I have been researching and learning a lot about tunning. I thought I knew so much when I was younger lol but now I am looking back like dang I was dumb. I am taking it slow because I dont want to blow the motor before I have another one. You guys are all alot of help here so thanks again everyone. And anything you guys can see in the video I should do diff let me know ill post some pics later.

    miss these turbo cars

Too bad non of them had proper sized turbos, would of made more power along with a nice broad powerband vs, instant boost, just to choke on top end..

    the 350 kits should of came with 62-1s T4..not no T3 with .63 a/r..with a dinkey compressor
now theirs even better cheap turbo options compared to the outdated 62-1

to OP, not sure what gear you have, but it'll work allot better with a gear range of 3.08-3.23
did you get the gt45 y2004k version with the 1.04? A/R exhaust turbine?
