Got the new motor running good. First time out took it on a 200 mile poker run with no issues. Thank god. I just have a question about my oil pressure. It has about 62 pounds cold and runs a steady 47 to 48 at 2800 rpms. Does that sound ok
Your hot idle oil pressure is more important than the cold start up pressure. Good numbers above, but what is your hot idle number? Also assuming you are running break-in oil 10/30 weight. Jim
https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/t...chapters-inclusive-copy-and-save-this.136052/ https://540ratblog.wordpress.com/ A couple links on oil. I found them quite interesting. Might even try some 0w-20 this winter to see where the oil pressure lands.
15/40 is kinda heavy oil. You have adjustable regulator? Those pressures sound marginally ok with 15/40 oil Need more info like hot hot hot idle pressure (after a 20 minute drive on highway, NOT warmed up from sitting in driveway) What psi does it max out at hot when you wind it out?
You sure about that? Far as I know, it's still got ZDDP, just in reduced quantity from years (decades?) ago.
I also read Rotella, since its designed more so for low rpm diesels, does not have a lot or any anti-foaming agents Last thing you want are bubbles in yer oil

Its my understanding based off if a Shell representative's reply on another forum that it's a rumor and simply isn't true, the "t" line of oil, still contains 1200ppm and is labeled differently and therefore doesn't have to meet the government mandated requirements. that's the representatives words not mine. Once the email is returned we will see what their response is as to its lack of anti foaming properties I forgot to ask and will when they get back with. I don't care either way to be honest, as I run conventional oil with a bottle of STP, or VR1 but if it's not true about the Rotella it should be cleared up.
This is what I received from Shell along with a phone number and extension if we had any further questions regarding Shell products
Just called, super informative , I asked about the anti foaming properties of Rotella, he assured me there are anti foaming ingredients, and sent my inquiry to their lab personnel and said i would receive a full chemical breakdown of the oils and further explanation as to how the anti foaming agents are measured and why you can't place a level on it, as it is based off many other factors and chemical properties at play
