To me, the simplicity of the tray, and the ease of installation are the determining factors. They both do the job.

I know Larry already responded, but to answer your question, I used the one from Automotive Machine and Performance.

Yup, me too, and actually take the next step to put it on an engine dyno, to confirm the state of tune of the customer's carb, and to verify that under full power and at full rpm, we don't have any issues.

Because I don't own a dyno, and the one I trust is a 125 mile round trip from the shop, I lose money every time I dyno someone's engine.. but it's a requirement as far as I am concerned, and worth the time invested.

And even with that, doing everything one can to be complete, there are things that happen from time to time, and as stated, it's how they are dealt with that matters.. No one is perfect.

As of today, Scotty's mechanics did resolve majority of the issues even though I had to drive almost 2 hours to drop off the car. They installed the splash shield, installed the missing bolts in the front of the oil pan, removed the lower part of the poston pan and retapped all screws and installed the correct screws as the incorrect ones were used. They also attempted to correct the timing (total timing currently set at 28) to the car to stop the detonation, but car is still detonating. They discovered a vacuum leak in the carb and that it has a throttle shaft play even though the carb was rebuilt as the engine was getting built. So I went ahead and sent back the carb to have it inspected. The mechanic offered to drive down once I receive the carb to redo the timing and hopefully finalize this tuning.

In speaking with an old Buick gearhead that actually lives in Miami, Jim Heiss, regarding my issues. He believes the carb was rebuilt incorrectly and should be rebuilt using the 1970 stage 1 specs. He also didn't like the cam that was used in the engine (Comp Cam mutha thumper Cam). This cam was one that was installed on the original engine when I purchased the car. So let's see once I get the carb back and hopefully can have an engine that can be tuned correctly without any detonation. Fingers crossed...

Good to hear that Jim Haas is still kicking around, have not seen or heard from him in a while. Hope he is doing well.

Some we dyno too if the customer wants it. An extra $600. I'm fortunate though, the machine shop that does all the work also has a dyno and they are 1.5 miles from my house. The last 2 street 482's we did were dyno'd,the results surprised us,as we exceeded 630hp.Maybe should dyno more.lol
