Thanks all, I have always used wix or Napa so will probably go with what I know ,but always good to know what others swear by. btw I heard several years ago wix and purolater were the same filter different labels . Not sure if that was true or is still the same. And correct me if this is wrong. Always appreciate the knowlage on this site
I doubt Purolator is made by Wix, but Napa Gold is. Wix is regarded as the best you’ll find, and buying them (or Napa) ahead of time or in bulk keeps the price down. Patrick
Bosch and puralator are the same manufacturer. Both seem like good filters for the price point. If you look carefully the new Napa platinum is lower quality than the gold. It doesn't filter as fine a particle size. Some good reviews on you tube. As I recall, the mobile1 filters get decent reviews as well. I buy Wix on Amazon and stock a few as Napa gold for my daily drivers are like $12 in the store...
We use Wix filters wrapped in the original PF24 decals. That way they look original and offer great performance. You can purchase the decals for $3. Decals available on my Engine Page https://www.diecastmusclecars.com/buick_engine_parts.htm
A couple years back Wix filters were white so we just used nail polish remover to wipe off the Wix lettering. Now they're black and either need to be painted or use the Napa version which is still white. Once they're solid white simply apply the PF24 Decal!
Since Mann + Hummel bought Wix, they moved a lot of the automotive oil filter manufacturing to Mexico. We have not seen any quality issues, and have used 100’s of them since the move.
