Unfortunately That will never happen.. Without false statements prostituting attorneys would never have a job. In fact they protect them kind of people. Liars protect liars. What needs to be done is when the falsely accused proves innocents the pig & the prostituting attorneys go strait to jail for life. followed by a speedy execution.

So at what point does the victim of the rape becomes the perpetrator and the perpetrator of the rape becomes the victim?

The perpetrator isn't ever a victim when there is evidence, but a person's accusations aren't evidence, I agree all accusations should be looked into,. Very thoroughly but the prosecutors and what appears to be a growing number of law enforcement are all to eager to to blindly believe the accuser, arrest and take to trial cases with circumstantial or even no evidence. How can one prove himself innocent when there wasn't anyone around to say otherwise. I would assume a lot of us have been to college dorm parties,...there are some pretty crazy things go on,..people make bad decisions and then wake up regretful and want the other party to suffer, and with one call they can destroy a life. Like I said there is no right way to handle it but putting people away just satisfy a equally as quilty party isn't fair. As to "when the roles reverse" that's the challenge but it sure seems its becoming a trend to come out of the woodwork decades later to get their share.

A buddy of mine got a DWI (first offence), no tickets in 36 years. They took his license for 2 weeks (could have been worse). He is now on probation for a year....no drinking even at home. Subject to arrest if probation officer comes to house and he has a beer in his hand in his own house. Seems like invasion of privacy or something.....

Lindsey Lohan commented on the Me2 movement. She basically said, the time to act was when it happened, bringing it up years , even decades later , makes all women look weak ....

I can only surmise that lots of these victims were too scared to come forward or they did and no one gave them the time of day. The culture has certainly changed.

You have to figure nowadays with DNA testing and the rest of the rape kit they know who did it without a doubt. Back in those days it was probably much harder to prosecute a rape.

Consent can be argued quite a bit, but these aren't all drunk college students.. this story in particular that the OP is upset about was between school girls and a preacher.

I will say if i was ever involved in this kind of deal and the perpetrator was running for office or some other position I'd make it known what happened..

So at what point does the rape/sexual abuse become null and void? 2 weeks if not reported?

Well, life is a gamble, they say. So , let's gamble.
If an accuser wishes to bring to court an alleged offense from years or decades ago , one which carries , for the sake of argument, a felony sentence of 7 to 10 , it should be allowed.
However, if the case brought forth is weak and ends with the a not guilty verdict, the accuser should do 3.5 to 5 years incarcerated.
This would cease the frivolous cases overwhelming the court system as well as stress the importance of acting in a timely manner when bringing charges/ acussations.
Wanna take another card or fold?

I’m not sure what the answer is. Watching the Kavanaugh hearings brought several thoughts to mind. One, it’s ludicrous for bystanders and commentators to have any opinion of guilt or innocence (beyond presumtion of innocence) based upon the factors used in his case. Privilege, gender, politics, etc. are irrelevant. Second, there could be two versions of the same truth; (her, ‘I was trapped in a room with two guys, intoxicated, scared, traumatized-but nothing happened); (him; ‘We snuck upstairs, we were all kinda drunk, I thought she was into me, she wasn’t, my pal got goofy, we left).—-If it was even him. One person thought nothing of it (maybe underreacted to the event) the other (maybe triggered into panic) felt scarred. This brings me to the third point: there’s another thread on v8 about Pearl Harbor and WWII vets-how after seeing the absolute horrors of war, came home and quietly resumed a life. It’s one thing to carry a trauma around for years. It’s another to let one define or even cripple you. I’m not saying people shouldn’t speak up, but sometimes what a person says (and when!) says more about the ‘victim’ than the perpetrator.

Thats assine. From start to finish. Refresh your memory on the us legal system. The accuser presents the case to the cops. The cops investigate and give their findings to the DA. The DA makes the call whether or not to prosecute. If it makes it that far then there is reason enough to believe it happened. It's not nearly as simple as you think.

The accuser can't walk in and demand a trial.

The accuser can't control the media either.

Yep DA is a scumbag. Cop as another scumbag,,hooker a scumbag.. All using TAX payers money for bullshit.. How may lives were ruined..
In that case the investigation Cops and the prosituting attorney DA should have been placed in jail...for life. What happened nothing..

Sad thing is stuff like that happens on a daily basis.. 95% of the time the accused does not have the Money for a good defense.. Where the accuser has all the tax payer money in the world.

Don't appreciate being talked down to, noone does, could be why you are so unpopular here. My comment was tongue n cheek, not literal. I'm sure my "dye the dog black and keep her " post in the Beautiful Dog thread wasn't taken as verbatim. I am here to learn about Buicks, make some friends and have some fun. You appear to have joined the website to hear your own voice and criticism. I have never used the ignore feature before , you will be the first. You must be proud as it is apparent to many your intentions here are to be king asshat. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Don't bother with a reply , unless of course ya have to hear your own voice yet again. I have ignored you as many others in your life have and will continue to do so. Keep your cowshit up der where it belongs. Bye bye, Jim

I looked up the old guy's record on Maryland Judiciary Case search and all he has previous is one traffic ticket and divorce.
I could see if he was a known sex offender that old charges like that could stick....but not on the list

I guess just because he or anyone got away with something so many years it should just make them innocent, that sure teaches a lesson. Sick of people shaming the victoms that for whatever reason finally reach a point in their lives to come forward. Guess those of you that feel this is all silly would feel differently if it were your daughter, hhmmmm. Nah, I guess she would just be a lying whore as well.
