No, TWO... :D Might have to pull the headers off the XGS and put them on the special and the cast iron manifolds back on the X to tone it down a tad... ws

Bill congrats on the score! Reminds me of my 63 Skylark about the same condition.

Is that paint code W (diplomat blue)? Mine is and yours looks the same as mine.

GEEZ... of all the things I took pics of, I dont remember the cowl tag! Dang... lemme go look...Nope! Dummy me. Pats' texting the seller and if he's still at the shop he can shoot one out, but yes, its almost diplomat blue with some touch ups here and there. ws

I agree... theres something "Special" about them LOL... 40 years ago you wouldnt give one a second glance; the market was flooded with loaded Buicks which was actually the norm in my area. Now they are becoming available as the "forgotten step child" and thats copyrighted by me haha... I had to set my azimuth a little lower for the project and its none the worse for wear. Cant wait for a hot steamy August night to peel out in the BAD LAD with the AC blasting tho. Hmm..

So, as I am also across the hall now, I hafta ask, are the natives friendly? They seem to be particularly helpful and enthusiastic.

JR Wills already tuned me up on motor mounts... not too complicated, but some conversion questions will arise. Should I ask them on the bench or dig my self deeper into the other forums below the bench here? I dont think Im a newbie anymore but hate stepping on toes in sandals.

So the take out 455 is probably gonna need a crank grind. Rains gonna run downhill with that as we all know. No biggy, but, if the crank is out, does it really need to get balanced with a flywheel (note: NOT a flexplate)? I know that 454s were externally balanced, and dont want a Flint Vibrator on my hands! :( Some trick top end work and Ill be happy, but otherwise stock in a tin can will still have a blazing saddle.

Looking at 4 speeds, a Super T-10 I had used a 2:73 1st gear. Another used a 2:23(?) first and it was tuff on clutch discs with a 3:08 rear end. I wanna put a bruiser together and use the XGS for trips. Beat me up Scotty... theres no intelligent life in Trivvers. Hmm OH.. BTW, a very Merry Christmas to one and all. Lots more to follow as this build moves along! ws

My cowl tag is the same with paint code ww. The 1st letter stands for the top and 2nd letter the bottom. Another words your car was painted 1 solid color verses a 2 tone car.

So after talking with the seller, we estimated him getting here at about 1:30.The guy shows up at 1:00 and I spill a giant cup of coffee all over the table and the gut. I was shakin' like a leaf. These two guys show up and have the trailer backed in the driveway before I can get my jacket on! They gage the turns out back to get to the rear shop, and within 5 minutes the three of us have the car on the ground and into the barn. No brakes on board, so the one guy used the clutch and the stuck motor to roll it down the ramps.
Come back for the 455 with the hoist and BAM! Its in shop "A" and we go inside to seal the deal. Then off to Mexican for lunch on me! Finally came back home and snapped 100 or so picks. As Im sizing them for here, Pat calls me and yelling into her crack phone exclaims, "Im following a SLED!! What is it?" Like I can tell from a mile away LOL. This one came outa the barn TODAY in Kewaunee Wi. with a 1976 tag on it. A 4 door hardtop 1957 Super. Mustve been a great day for Buicks! ws

Neat car! But it's a B-58 Buick, not a 57. The Super was the step under the Roadmaster, it shared the same wheelbase and trim as the Roadie did. That particular one looks pretty good, because they used to rust like shipwrecks. Whoever owns it has a good score, all the chrome is there and serviceable.

Bill, good that the car is there already; great Christmas present!

Yeah Marc... I too am rusty like a shipwreck on this antique stuff. Pretty neat of Pat to follow this guy for 4 blocks and get some pics while he fueled up. The buyer shopped for a while to find this one, and neither of us had seen anything about it being for sale in all of our searching! Then theres just a whistle wetter! ws
