Not really new, but new username

  1. Long time guys. You might remember me as 462cid. V8Buick sure has changed. I hear the BPG is all gone. V8Buick won't accept my old username. I see some old faces already here. Hope you've been well, Larry!

Anyway. Been more than 10 years away for me. Lots of changes. Biggest was a stroke at 45 years old. Same stroke as former NE Patriot Tedy Buschi had. The last you heard from me I had gotten a good rear clip from a convertible Skylark, and was about to start measuring and cutting on my '70 Skylark Custom convertible, which I'd turned into a GS455 clone many years ago. I had cut an entire '71 Skylark Custom that had a car fire in half, and I was going to graft the entire rear quarter assemblies with all interior structure after I had done the little bit of work each needed. I figured: this will be better and easier, they aren't skins, so I can make them perfect before they go on the car.

Other things like family problems took my time for years, and then I had a stroke in the shower. My Buick got old fast without me using it- if you recall I have over 300K miles on it from my own use, had it since '89, and took some storage damage.

Now I am losing my storage/shop space of 20 years. The reality is that I'm never going to do all these things to the old girl at this stage. I'm not disabled, and I am still improving but now the car really needs a ground-up, I'm 49, lost my place to work on it, and I am focusing on newer fun cars, without rust. So the old girl needs a new home and I am selling.

Putting an ad in the For Sale section here soon. The car needs love, but it's in one piece and it's still an early sequence number '70 Custom.

  2. Thanks George. Stroke could have been worse. Didn't hurt, and I never had a chance to be scared. But I found out I don't panic easily.

    I replied to your message

Welcome BACK! Chris... Sorry to hear about your struggles but it's an inspiration to see you still looking after your old girl; even if it means moving her on to a new home.

Yes he is, but he doesn't come around here much anymore. I talk to him all the time though. He just bought a 98 Riviera and he is very busy correcting things from POs and personalizing the car to his style.:)

    Chris,

Glad that ALL has worked out well for you.
YES, Yards is still around, BUT not no where near as much as previously.
Call Jim the owner of this site as I went through the same when my computer took a dump during our hurricane. He can walk you through it in a couple minutes.

He still has his 69. This 98 will be the second one he owned. The first one he bought was a lemon. He sold that one. He just bought this one about a month ago.

  13. Jeez. 9 likes? That can't be me. Although I remember that picture being taken in my Father's driveway...That's an awesome photo actually. I wonder if I still have it.

I think what happened it, like a dummy I was sending an e-mail to reset my password, and it's an e-mail addy for a job I haven't had for a decade. I kept re-sending, and nothing went to my inbox (duh). The site probably locked me out.

I'll get in touch with Jim.

I should share photos of my newest stupid cars, too. I'd love to put the LS3 from one of the stupid cars into the other stupid car.
