Ok I am going to have to put on my NOS muffler bearing for LS6 Chevelle stage 1 and hemi cobrajet applications . Just so I can bid on this grille .

Every time this discussion comes up I kick myself. I had the opportunity to buy 10 of these in 1984 for $69 each.

I bought three. One I put in my stage 1, one I still have in a box and one I traded for a 1969 Wildcat convertible that I later sold for $3000. If I would have known I could be about halfway to a GSX by now.

Over 2K already wih 6 days 11 hours left. It will set the 71 record. High bidder has a similar Board name to Bruce's but no way he is going to bid that much.

I think you're wrong Jim.....That is most certainly Bruce and Shirl with the highest bid right now.

Like Jim, I was guessing 2k range on where this grille might end up. But with several days to go, it will no doubt climb higher and higher into the stratosphere! If I had a '71 GS, I'd pay in this range for it. Makes me glad I have a '70! Looks like a win-win for buyer and seller to me since no repops are available now. It's the holy graile (sp?) of '71's!

Welp while the fever has set in looks it like its time for me to break out my stash of 70 RH tri shield mirrors. They are harder to find than 71 Grilles. What do you think 5K for a mirror?

wow, it only had two bids, and was under $ 100.00 when i started this thread. now over $ 2000.00 in just 14 hours. yes, this should be interesting. sometimes i wonder if you could take a big chunk of plastic and just carve away until it looks like a grille. it might wear out a few dremel tools and take a guy all winter, but it would cut down on mold costs. i know that sounds extreme, but i wonder.........

Yeah, I keep thinking we could make them in China for less than that. Even one at a time hand carved from wood.

Heck, you can get a silk carpet that takes a person a year to make for under $800.

    Same with the N25 bumpers.

Man it will be a wonderful day when someone starts making these.......... Maybe I should sell my original before that happens :Brow:

Just because this grill has bid up to $2k+ does not mean you can sell repros for that amount. Also, does not indicate there is a large group of Buick owners willing to pay that amount. If the grill ever gets made, expect it to be made overseas and prolly sell for $400-600. Molds/tooling are expensive. I know the molds/tooling for the 71-2 Olds 442 grilles was a lil over $50k. They are selling for $350-400. What is nice about them is the 71-2 Olds are the same grills except for paint so you have more cars that can use the grills. Just some ideas to consider when you think of new reproduction parts. I bet Frank McIntyre, Rich Henderson, Jim Burek, Mike Garrison and others who have done repro parts can tell you the "real" story on sales projections and "actual" sales.

It is wise if you have a 71 that will be worth enough . I have tried to sell my 71 GS 350 and never had anyone willing to give me half the price of the grille on ebay right now . So I have a 71 GS I am wanting 2000.00 for it because it doesn't have a GS grille . Who is going to pay 5000.00 for it after I spend 3000.00 for a grille ?

Like I said a perfect 71 GS 350 on ebay with 39000 documented miles bid to only 5900.00 . Is the grille worth more than that car ?
That being said if I owned a stage 1 that just needed a grille I would reluctantly be bidding on this one .

    Ok guys,
Here will be the total killer then. This car also was a 455 car and has a decent N-25 bumper too.(going on my 71 GS) and a rear spoiler.Maybe I should list my 71 GS grille for mine too since it will be a double duty racer/driver.Maybe I can live with a Skylark grille in mine........Nahhh!The buyers are totally setting the pace on this sweet thing.I had 1st shot at it but declined since there is a certain 72 GS that needs parts to fix it to look good.Besides, this is the only way to recover some of the money spent out on it.(YES,THERE WAS A PRICE TO PAY FOR IT AND THE OTHER STUFF.I feel he wanted to give someone who really needs this for there car since his is a 72 car.I look at it this way....everyone here that would perhaps stumble on one of these and would have a spare would sell it too. This is a really sweet grille and worth every cent it brings.Whoever gets it wont be sorry!

    Hello everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I guess the cat is out of the bag!!:Brow: So to speak..

I just would like everyone to know that I hope this grill gets put in a car that deserves it! Even if I were to get a 71 it would never be nice enough for a grill of this caliber...

I somehow fell into the deal and I consider myself very fortunate to have found this and I now I will have the funds/parts ect.... to be able to fix-up and enjoy my 72 GS.

    Good luck to all.

    Thanks
WRXDustin. ------------A fun little car thats for sure!!
