My front and rear sway bars are 1 inch as opposed to the factory 7/8 inch bars. First off, I'm not complaining that it's not stock because this car handles and corners better than my stock '71 with factory sway bars. But, I'd like to know what I have in the rear setup. The sway bar is 1 inch and angles differently that the curved factory bar. Also, the factory boxed lower control arms have been replaced with solid arms with a grease fitting on each end. So, what do I have and is it considered a good setu-up even though not original? (The rear axle is a '72 GM 10 bolt with 3.42 posi.)
BTT. Still want to know who makes the solid lower control arms with grease fittings and the aftermarket sway bar. Anyone?
Don't know who made it, BUT I wouldn't run a sway bar hanging down below the rear end. Would HATE to think of what can happen IF you come across soomething that's "Proud" of the road.
However, the factory curved sway bar also hangs below the pumpkin. Not quite as low but close. I don't think it's an issue.
Maybe UMI, https://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/xlarge/upi-402416-b_pj_xl.jpg?rep=False I have the Metco billet aluminum ones. They made a huge improvement in traction for me. The first year I put my current engine in, I had a lot of trouble hooking up in Cecil. As soon as I went to Metco arms, that problem largely went away. I'd say anything is an improvement over stock arms, boxed or not. What do the upper control arms look like?
This is what I have, https://www.jegs.com/i/Metco-Motorsports/681/MCA0009/10002/-1 https://www.jegs.com/i/Metco-Motorsports/681/MUC00S9/10002/-1
I live about 45min from Metco,...there isn't a better built product out there,...i have the bilket lowers on two of our cars and have put his stuff on several customer cars I'd love to see an adjustable lower from them in the future,..its heavy stuff but there is now way its going to break,...there is no welds to fail
