Replaced ring and pinion and all bearings in my GSX with fabcraft 3.42 gear set . Everything looks great as far as wear pattern after 500 miles driving, drained oil thru paint strainer and no metal shavings. Backlash is 7.5. Noise is very slight and not noticeable unless you are listening for it. Only has noise between 49 to 60 mph, 60 and above very quiet . Do I need to be concerned ?

Do you hear the noise while under load or coasting,or both?
Do you have any pictures of the pattern from either the initial setup,or now?

Can you run a pattern now & take a picture? I figured if you drained the fluid, you might have the cover off.

    You got 80/90 in it?

Also you gotta remember it's not a factory gear , aftermarket gears have their "spots" where they get vocal. That's jmo if it's just a cruiser you may could loosen Lash a bit , but chances are it will wear in and quiet'n up

If it is more noticeable during the coast cycle, increased backlash may magnify it,depending on what the pattern is.
There are a lot of myths about aftermarket gear sets, that usually are not true. It usually comes down to how well they were set up.

yes have 80/90 in it. The guys from fabcraft said it is more of a performance gear than stock gear and could have some noise. Wondering why noise is only at certain speed. Also ring gear is not a tight fit on carrier and is centered only by bolts, but factory gear was not a pressed tight fit on carrier either.

The ring gear should be a press fit on the carrier. You can NOT rely on the ring gear bolts to keep it centered & true. Things will twist & deflect, which will also cause havoc on the teeth & pattern themselves.

I am assuming it came from the factory without pressed fit since the GM ring gear was not pressed on carrier. Does anyone know if that is correct ?

When you remove the ring gear bolts, you should have to tap the ring gear off the seat of the carrier. It shouldn't fall off. Does it walk or wiggle side to side, when you have the bolts out?
The FabCraft gears that I have installed had a nice tight fit onto the carrier.
How do the teeth look after some driving? Are they nice & polished-smooth,or do you have some galling or anything?

With bolts out it will wiggle side to side. After 500 miles wear looked polished and smooth.Fellow who installed ring and pinion gear for me commented on it not fitting tight on carrier, but like I said the GM ring gear was not tight either, had some side to side movement so I assumed it was made like that.

I just installed a new fabcraft ring gear on my new Auburn carrier, and it was a tight fit. Not able to move the ring gear by hand with bolts out. Heated the gear to get it in place.
