When its 2 am in the morning and you have no steering puller and auto zone is closed Use a door hinge from your junk pile .....just make sure to have the big steering wheel nut on flush so you dont damage the threads the holes on the hinge line up perfectly ....
You can also loosen the nut but leave it on the end of the shaft to protect the threads , put your knees behind the steering wheel and push out while you put a brass punch on the shaft and smack it with a hammer. Used this a lot on foreign cars that had wheels needing lip on the puller to engage the wheel. Like Opels .
