Same stock color as mine, out-of state registration but has the complete CA emissions package. A bit pricey, if he really wants to move it he should have a $10k ceiling. Lots of European folks will pay that much for it. Those dents in the front fenders will not pound out easily.
The caddy is nice, but the engine/frame/suspension setup on the Riviera is superior from a performance standpoint. Nothing beats the 1970 Caddy Fleetwood Eldo convertible...especially the one in: "The Getaway." Seats 6 cowboys comfortably, including their automatic weapons. Even has room for some bodies in the trunk...
Erik, you should show a view from the rear of the 1st gen FWD Eldorados and how 'razor edged' the rear metal is around the tail lights. Very cool. And, this gen Eldo was actually a Hot Wheels back in the day .... I had one.
I agree that the 1967 El Dorado is a great looking car. My vote will always go to the 66-67 Riviera though. In my opinion it is one of the best looking cars GM made. Shout out to the 1966 Toronado too. I always thought they looked like a Hot Wheels inspired style.
The Toros and the Eldos are neat cars, no doubt; - I wouldn't say "no" to a nice one of either of them. But, IMHO, the Riviera has by far the most aesthetically appealing design; it's just in better proportion than the others. Buick hit it out of the park with the Riviera; it's just too bad that the "mainstream" vintage auto community hasn't hit on them yet because of that Buick "big car" stigma. That said, the prices are starting to climb and Gen 2 Rivis are starting to be worth serious money. Now if only Electra would get some of that same luvin' then we'd have something...
This photograph was taken at the 2015 EyesOn Design Automotive Design Exhibition at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI. The 1967 Cadillac Eldorado belongs to Wayne Kady, GM designer including in the Cadillac and Buick studios. Similar era maroon Toronado and white Riviera models are included in the photo to the right of the Eldorado. The theme for the 2015 show was "House Design"; how different design houses such as at GM under William Mitchell, for whom Kady worked, defined their styling. This is evident in the photo with the trio of E-Body cars. Jim Vesely BCA # 39477 ROA # 7437
That's when GM design was on top of its game ... and I mean no disrespect to the Brits or the Italians as they can bend metal in to some sensuous shapes, too.
