Hey folks, Just wanted to share the jem I found. Saw this Apollo about 3 years ago on an old country road in Delton, MI. It had a for sale sign, so I had to stop. (probably would have stopped even if it didn't have a sign...you all know what I mean) At the time I couldn't spend the asking price. Went on with life and forgot about it. I was driving by about a year later and the little blue Apollo was still there with the F/S sign faded to a light pink. Talked to the owner and he was a little frustrated with the car. It drew alot of attention, but nobody was willing to buy it. I made him an offer that he and I could live with. I drove this car about 20 miles home!
About the Apollo: The owner got it from his grandmother after she passed. It spent about 40,000 miles in Kentucky. The remainder of the 53,000 total on the clock was spent in Michigan. We don't get nice old original cars here in Michigan very often. This Apollo would be considered sweet anywhere. The apollo is for my son Sam. He comes to work with me in the Summer and Weekends and works on the car. The cool thing is he is only 10! He has it stripped down to the subframe now. Were going to put it on the rotisseri shortly. Sam has done all the work. I will crack the bolts loose for him, but he has to remove them, then bag and tag. He gets a little upset when I don't let him use the impact. He's got to learn how to handle hand tools. I let him use the impact on the wheels and bumper bolts.

It seems to change daily what the outcome will be. Some may think I'm nuts, but I actually like it more than my 70 GS! The purist in me keeps the GS stock. The Apollo...it's an open book to me. Tilt steering A/C, love it. I have a 70 455 on the stand that needs a rebuild. The original 350 runs good, but I can't leave it stock. I like the idea of bolting in a 75 skylark subframe. Get that steering box forward and the world opens up. May go with original sub-frame with a rack and pinion steering set up. Not sure yet. It will surely get an overdrive, but still debating on manual or auto. 700R or 200R, can't decide yet. I recently built a 68 Nova.....have alot of parts, like pedals for manual shift. The old parts car nova I have was a 4 speed car, so I can cut the tunnel for the shifter.
Gears are still up in the air, depending on the tranny I pick. My 68 Nova ran 13.7 @100 with ZZ4, 700R4, 3.08 gears on P205 whitewalls at Martin, MI. That 1st gear in the 700R is sweet, but the 200R is more evenly spaced. I'm thinking a low 13 to high 12 second car would be fun.
As you can tell, still fickle on the final product! Right now were focused on the body. I vote for original medditerainian blue. Sam wants...well I will post a picture of what he wants.
I've also been kicking around some sort of fresh air intake, graph in the GS scoops...
I will keep you all updated, thank you for the interest.
The pic below is Sam's vision for the Apollo. Pretty Cool. My good friend Dave drew this freehand...very talented.
