    Hey all,

I picked up a my Centurion last summer. It's my first american classic car and completely different from my MGB roadster!

The car is a solid runner and a good driver and it's loads of fun with the family.

It does have some issues, most annoying is the power windows which work intermittently.

I can't get the driver window to go up. Where's the best place for me to find some pointers on how to troubleshoot?

    Thanks for any help!

This is the best place to get pointers for troubleshooting:D

I would check the switch. The drivers door has the master switch...you might be able to see if it is just a bad connection on the back side of the switch, but you may have to replace it. I'd start there.

To get to it, you need to remove the top half of the door panel. You will then have access to the lower half fasteners. I can walk you through what and where the panel is held onto the door if needed. I've had 6 of these cars.

"It's my first american classic car and completely different from my MGB roadster!" You've pretty much gone to the exact opposite of an MGB roadster. But very nice car, they are very comfortable cruisers. If you are going to keep it for a while I would strongly recommend getting a shop manual.

My 2 cents on your window problems, in my experience power windows stop working usually because a wire for the window in question has broken right at where they go into the driver side door to connect to the master switch. It happens sometimes because those wires flex every time you open the door. Can't say for sure that's your problem, but it's where I would check first.

Welcome! I think you’ll come to enjoy the smooth, torquey ride and spread out with friends room so much that you won’t mind slowing down for turns. Try wiggling the switch actuators (don’t just go 12:00-6:00; try 11:00, 1:00, 5:00 and 7:00). Check for crud at the switch connectors too. Sometimes they just gum up.

Nice looking Centurion, I have had 2 72 Centurion convertibles, they are great driving road cars, traveled extensively in both mine, they handle better than some might believe as well, watch the period test below. I had a 75 MGB for a short time back in the 80's, and yes that is night and day LOL. Enjoy it!!

Welcome and ditto on the broken wire. There is a rubber sleeve between the body and door the wires get old and brittle. they break right in the middle of that conduit.

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice.

I had a similar wire problem at the door with my 98 Cherokee, so I will look into that as well as the switch. Thanks again.

Thanks! The MGB had to go because the kids couldn't come. The first thing we did when we got the Centurion was put the car seats in and they absolutely love it. They named her "The Banana Boat"

The Banana Boat looks awesome! Your kids will remember that car for the rest of their lives

The wife convinced me to sell off a two seat hot rod and race car to get something the four of us could all cruise in. Best car related decision I made to date.
