I'm seriously thinking of going with some Weld pro stars for my GS for a different look.

For the rears, I was considering on going with a 10" rim with 5.5"BS. I plan to run a 275/60/15 MT Radial Pro. The section width on that tire spec to 11.4" I presently run a 11.5'' x 27" QT Pro on an 8" rim with 4.5" bs.
I have approx 1-1.5" of room toward the frame. Section width on the QTP is 11.2" so slightly less. This tire really bulges on the 8" rim though.

I'm concerned the sidewall of the tire may rub the frame. Any of you have some first hand experience with running 5.5" bs? Thoughts on if this tire/rim combo will fit ok? Thanks

On my 71 skylark Im running 295/50/15 which is 26.6" tall and 12.2" wide on a 10" wide rim with 5.5" bs. No fitment issues at all. Not sure if this helps you or not.

It certainly does, how much room do you have between the sidewall and the frame? What tire are you running? Is it a DR?
I meant to mention in my original post I'm running the factory corporate 10 bolt rear.

I think these SKYLARK body style cars look sharp with those wheels

I ran 325/50's on 10in 5.5bs Draglites with 3.5 exhaust, no problem had to trim moulding maybe 3/16in

I appreciate the input guys. Looks like I won't have any worries with what I want to run.

  9. Did you ever pull the trigger on the Prostars? I want to run this same setup on my Lark. They look awesome in my head but I wanna see some pictures of them on a 70-72 car too.
