Hi everyone. I am restoring a 70GS Harvest Gold. I bought a 71 body & frame. I know i was answered by Larry 70GS. Is there anything i need to know to switch on the body before i switch the frame & body? Someone said the rear floor pan is different from the 71-72 GS/Skylark because of some charcoal canister/ fuel tank differences. All i'm worried is that i start the restoration and something doesnt fit or i forgot to remove something. Thanks! William
I'm not an expert on this type of conversion but maybe you will get some more input if you can detail what pieces/parts you are removing off of the 71 donor to the 70. It might help in figuring out what major differences or issues may be a problem besides emissions . In swapping the body; with different year and vin tags (not matching current 70 title) would require some advise/legal research before you get too far down the road . Maybe others that have performed body transplant can chime in?!
I assume you're re-bodying the car b/c of rust? I won't get into the philosophical arguments of re-bodying a car, but with the '71 trunk floor, it will be obvious to anyone that it's a rebody if that matters to you. On a 350 car a correct re-body may not affect the value substantially if at all but an incorrect one IMHO will. Let's start with the basics: Dooes the GS have buckets or bench and same on the body? How about A/C and/or vinyl top.
