I’m in central Illinois. I’ve always had an eye for skylarks, and just recently bought my first one. It’s a 1970 skylark, post car. Originally an in-line 6 car according to VIN. Along the way, someone yanked that 6cyl out and put in a 455, with a M21 muncie. Engine has been rebuilt sometime in the mid 2000’s. It’s got a TA 413 cam, 67 400 big port heads, double roller timing chain, headers, 4 row aluminum radiator, and 373 gears with auburn posi. Carb was junk so just replaced it with an edelbrock AVS2 800.....needing to get that dialed in...I’ve read now that edelbrock isn’t the first choice with these engines but for now I’ll have to make due with it. Absolutely love this car! I actually like that it’s not original. Car I had prior was an 87 Buick Grand National. Loved that car too but I was too nervous driving it. I felt more comfortable with it sitting in the garage because I knew it was safe. It was mostly original, and almost perfect. I couldn’t get myself to even put it to the floor in fear of hurting it. So I let it go and here I am. If anyone is in the central Illinois area, drop me a message. I would love to find some Buick friends in the area! Thanks everyone have a great weekend

Buick had an inline 6 in 1970?

Yes. Starting in 1968, Buick used the Chevy straight 6 gutless wonder. They sold the Buick V6 Tooling to Jeep and then bought it back for the 1975 model year.

To put my posts back on topic, welcome from Central Ohio with an Illinois connection. My daughter works at HSHS St Johns hospital in Springfield as a Sonographer (ultrasound). She's been out there for 3 years but is ready to move back to central Ohio and, I hope, will do so around Thanksgiving. If you are ever in the central Ohio area, you are more than welcome to stop in and visit the Buick Barn.
