Anyone in the New England area needing stuff re-chromed may want to consider New England Chrome plating in East Hartford Connecticut. I had my 71 N25 bumper and hood trim done and they look real nice. I told them I did not want to lose the sharp lines on the hood trim and they did a good job not rounding it off like others I have seen. The bumper was $500 and the hood piece was $125. A fair price in this area as anyone who has checked knows. Also no shipping involved so you do not have to sweat after you drop it at the shipping company. I am not a chrome expert but they look way better than factory to me. I included pictures but chrome is tough to see in a picture.
Dave, My rear bumper 4 years ago was $1100.00 + shipping & taxes. My shift plate last year was $ 600.00 + shipping & taxes. The small chrome plate at the front of the short console was about 150.00 5 years ago.. Huge spread in costs Canada vs. US platers.
They rechromed a pair of 71 headlight bezels for me, came out real nice! I think $300 for the pair, but that was two years ago.
Might have to do that! Been thinking of having the front bumper done soon. Getting thin in a few spots, copper starting to show through. I've been using Cambridge Chrome. Very nice work but very expensive.
Thanks- beginning my resto and starting to find places to have work done. I work in Hartford and this would make life easy.
Just an FYI... New England Chrome is in partnership with Sandy's Bumper Mart in Syracuse, New York. Sandy's just did a set of front and rear bumpers for me.... Plus, he frequently runs sales (15% off of street chrome finish) which includes sand blasting, straightening, and small repairs (dings, dents, small holes). Plus, covers it with a two year warranty. BOTH cost less than just one quoted above .
Steve, can you PM me the shops info you used to rechrome your stuff? It would probably be more cost effective for me to ship my stuff within Canada then to ship it down to the US. Or unless you or anyone else knows any good rechroming places in Ontario, Canada?
I used them a few years ago for a pair of 68 skylark bumpers, I also agree they did a nice job, Drove them down myself easy to find, 1k total job
Good info as my swedish friend lives south of Hartford. Now I know where to send him with parts that needs to be recromed, before he ships them to me.
