    And another thing

Do I need to run a return line to the tank?

i would just run the electric pump. use -10 lines from the tank to the pump to the rugulator and then you could run -8 lines to each carb bowl and -8 for a return off of the pump or rugulator depending on your set up. use a return line for street use. i would add a sump to a tank to use. i made one myself for a new tank that i bought. i wouldn't recommend welding your current tank for safety reasons. i knew someone that filled one up with water and let it sit for a day, drained it and then tried to weld and it still flashed. get an aftermarket tank to do this and put your origanal tank aside. the an lines and fittings can be costly but then you know you will have a bullet proof system, also they are easier to mount and run along the car. you should also mount the filter and pump as close to the tank as possible since electric pumps are good pushers not pullers. good luck.

    Holley pump

Not if you run the holley pump, holley pumps are designed for a no return system.Don't worry about welding the tank, if you take it to a rad shop they can dip it for you, NO way will it go BOOM after:laugh:

    Back on the road

well the engine is in and running. I still have to plumb my new fuel system and Im installing an MSD ignition. Then Im taking it to the chassis dyno for some tuning. I drove it to the local cruise night tonight. It sounds good and Im being gentle with it for the time being.

Glad to see you got her back up and running. The MSD is a good investment. I've been able to pretty much set-it-and-forget-it in my car.

I'm running my Skylark at Woodburns Fall Classic this weekend. Sure would be cool to have another Big Block Buick there running...hint hint! :beer

According to the many people ive heard:

having the radiator shop dip your tank will remove the corrosion ressistant layer in the fuel tank and the water in gas will cause the inside of the tank to rust.

    woodburn drags

I would love to make woodburn this weekend but Im afraid I wont have the rough edges worked out by then. I have the parts but no time. Maybe tonight I can get it together. Like an old drag racer told me..................."theres nothin to it but to do it" In fact, I think I'll add that to my signature...

Any shop worth their salt will clean and recoat the inside of the tank, and will guarantee their work.

    Workin............

Chris, I left a message on your phone last week but have been to busy working/paying for my buick to try again. I bought a holley blue pump and got a deal on some -8 braided line. I also bought a mallory cd ignition box. I am trying to massage my oil pan for clearance as well.......... I hope to have all of that work done this weekend.

    150

Couldn't you get the 150 we talked about the 110 is a bit weak for your combo, the fuel system is not the place to try and save money. Can you return the mallory? I have an almost new mallory box sitting on the shelf. Chris

    fuel pump

I wish I knew you had the ignition box... but then again the border patrol probably would have thought it was a detonator of some kind.
The holley red pump was a bit of an impulse purchase. I was at the local parts store and it was on sale and on the shelf. I was planning on putting it on the car with the stage 1 mechanical pump as an experiment. But as is normal, things got out of hand. I'll closely monitor the fuel pressure and if need be I will upgrade. This car is going to be a cruiser primarily and I think a smaller cam and carb is in the near future. I probably should have built the engine the second time with a smaller cam. If I decide its going to be a total bracket car I will go back together again with a girdled block like we discussed.

    restriction

The stock pump will restrict the flow, dump it and get the pump we talked about. if you lean it out in high gear on the street you won't be happy. Chris
