My original black A/C dash pad for the 69GS has a small dent. It is off the car and getting replaced no matter what. I have a perfect blue dash pad in storage. So can I dye the blue dash black and make it look really nice, or will it look okay at best? I have no issues buying a repro pad, but if some dye will do the trick, why waste the money? -- Steve
I dyed a super nice 70-72 dash using SEM color coat and it came out beautifully. Went from saddle to black. It's all in the prep. Take your time cleaning it and taping it up and you will be pleased with the results.
Yes, prep is 99% of it. Hit it with the Sem plastic and leather cleaner (smells almost like kerosene). Then spray it with Sem adhesion promoter before spraying the color coat.
