A 1973 Riviera followed me home on a trailer recently. I was not looking for one but have always loved the lines. I am in the middle of a crew cab chevy project, but I did manage to get the Riviera in the shop for an evaluation. The car is complete except for the forward right engine compartment brace. It needs a little body work, but not much, new floor pans under the back seats and front passenger floor. The engine would not rotate and when I pulled it out I found a real mess inside. Cam was in several pieces, pushrod wedged between block and crank, blown out lifter housing, broken rods, crank severely gouged, etc. It will go outside in a shed until next winter but am looking forward to getting it on the road and learning more cool stuff in the process.

Wow wonder what the motor sounded like when it grenaded! Have to ask, any info on how?
Speaking of 73 Riv's, I just added a pic to my avatar and one of the emblems is from my 73 in the day..

Have family in Woods Bay and I usually spend a few weeks bird hunting down there during October/November.

Yeah, not to mention the loss of a sizable portion of one lower cylinder bore, bent connecting rods and a couple deep gouges in a crank journal. All relegated to the metal art pile.

The block already went to the landfill. I am going to have the crank inspected to see if it can be salvaged.

Found a block, crank and rods, and after a great chat with the folks at TA I have a plan for a running motor for next spring!
