Well what about the floor shift being locked with the key off before 1970 GS ?

On a 69 floor shift car there is still a backdrive rod and the column still truns, there is just no indicator needle attached to it

The shifter will not move without the key because this was designed as an anti-theft feature.

Re: neutral switch, factory floor shift ? linkage update

I've started on the linkage, I made a shift lever bracket from a column shift bracket which will be ok for a mock up. Have all the other linkage ready to install. I painted all of it black after beed blasting off the rust. I Plan on ordering the correct shift lever later. Still have alot of work on the console. I have no idea on the correct factory color for the parts. Just trying to protect from rust.

    hi,

Actually I'm new to the site, and stumbled across this article looking for help on the console project I'm starting in a few days, mainly the Neut. safety switch, and the backfeed situation. But one unanswered question, I haven't had the time yet to pull back the carpeting and take a look at the tub, but maybe you guys already know- are the correct mounting holes already in place?, and is there a plug where the cable/ grommet assembly is supposed to go through?

I have a 71 custom, that I'm progressively cloning into a GSX - would anybody know where I could get my hands on a column shifter delete plate/ cylinder? I'm gearing up to do a total 3 day resto job on the interior- new IP, install the console shifter - fix the bucket seats, etc.

    great post BTW!
