Does anyone have pictures of the "Correct" cruise control level and parts for a 70 GS 455? I am wanting to add cruise control to my GS. I hear that 71 & 72 will work But aren't correct (at least in appearance) for a 70. I would like to know exactly what I am looking for. Are all of the other parts of the cruise control system the same for 70, 71 & 72?? Thanks for all of your help. If you have a lead on of any of this that would be nice too. Thank You!! Mark

Thanks for the picture Jim. I would like to see a few close up pictures of the 70 cruise control stalk And also of the 71-72 stalk. I am assuming that the 71-72 stalks are the same, is that correct? Is everything else the same for 70, 71 & 72 OR is everything different? Any pictures of the innards under the hood would be of great help. Thanks Everyone! Mark

They are mostly the same. There is the stalk that Jim mentioned. The '70 is a lot different under the dash for the brake switch.

Stalks were the same 1967-1970. Beginning in 1971 the stalks were redesigned, and were not only larger in overall diameter on the outer end, but were also 1/4" shorter in length.

The good news is, any model (Riviera-Electra-Wildcat-LeSabre-Skylark) equipped with cruise control used the same stalk 1967-1970. The bad news is they are still very difficult to locate in good condition. I have a near complete cruise control that I removed from a '70 GS455 years ago. As I recall, the only parts missing are the rubber sleeve that guides the wire through the steering column, and the stalk which was broken at the hole where the wires exit. I have been chasing a replacement stalk for years.

Don't do it. Why cut up a good car. It is a real eye sore and PITA. With all the extra hoses and cables.

copperheadgs1, interesting reply to my post. I haven't thought of it that way. What do you mean by "cut up a good car" and "eye sore". Do you happen to have pics of what the system looks like on a car? thanks, Mark

Here are a couple shots showing an engine compartment of a Cruise Master equipped car. Note the transducer mounted on the driver's side inner fender. Not unobtrusive. Lots of vacuum lines, and wiring. Unit has two shorter speedometer cables as well.
