Need a source for a long return spring . Headers with 400-455 w 4 speed Muncie & scatter Sheild Can't seem to find what I want
Geez, not a lot of room for a spring. I have a long one on my car but obviously no headers. Not sure if this would work for you. Its in the Dorman clutch return spring assortment.
A good Ace Hardware has springs all lengths and wire dia. On my dads car, I replaced one of the oil pan bolts with a longer one, and tacked a nut on it with 3/4in of threads exposed then hooked the spring in the intended location on the fork then obviously hooked the other on the head of the bolt. Works perfect
Go to a commercial truck brake and clutch shop and they’ll have a nice selection to choose from...I promise!
I've got two of those Dorman sets hanging on the wall in my garage. Cheap and options for just about everything.
Hey JC... Does your speedo cable exit the trans on the passenger side and pass under the trans? Just figuring out how to route mine. ws
Yes. Passenger side exit on the speedo. Passes under the bell. There are two special clips that are attached to the lower trans bolts. The cable is 70" long
Jason , Is that the way a 69 GS 400 speedo cable should be routed? Mine has been apart so long, and I did not take it apart.
Great! So wheres the best place to hunt for a 70" cable w/housing? Anyone know if the dash end had that spring clip-retainer for 1964? Every other 4 speed Ive worked on had the cable in between the shifter rods. ws
