Do you have specific codes you are looking to match up with tire sizes? I may not have the order forms but I may have the codes in some of my other documentation. If you have codes you can send them to me and I can check.

    Rob,
Thanks, but I don't need any info for the big cars. Glad I'm under the radar somewhere.

    Mike,
I have all the sales codes and all the UPC codes but that won't help.

The Flint Buildsheets; "Production Order Body Final" & "Production Order Chassis Paint", use an entirely different set of codes called "Manufacturer Codes".

These are not referenced anywhere except in one Factory booklet that was used by the Quality Control Engineers at the Flint Production Plant. They were not used at any plant other then Flint and there are no cross-reference guides. To make matters worse, if you do find one of those booklets, which is almost impossible, they only list the codes at the beginning of each model year, so if any codes changed you are screwed. Then to add to this, the sheets/codes often changed at the beginning of each model year, plus sometimes changed again before the year was up.................and then you get the normal changes to the Sales codes going in and out during the model years too.

Without a valid key, the only way to figure out the Manufacturer codes is to know what options were available on the cars at that time and fill in the blanks.

I started with the 70 model year, and mostly used the sheets from the GSXs. The fact that most of them were optioned the same gave me a baseline so I could figure out the various options they came with. Then thru getting more sheets for GS & Skylarks I was able to figure out most of the codes by cross-referencing the sheets and talking to the car owners.

Then I went to the 71 & 72 sheets, but they were much easier because of the info I knew from the 70 sheets.

The 69 sheets are a different story. Many of the codes were changed from the 68 sheets, and changed again for 70, hence the problem I am having figuring out the codes.

The bottom line is this, if the Stage 1’s and GSX’s were built at a GMAD plant (for Buick that would be anywhere but Flint) I would not have had to deal with any of this.

    Duane,
I once got copies of order forms from Buick customer service for my '66's a decade or two ago. I'd guess they are separate from Sloan.
Another source is Autolit.com they often sell order forms on eBay.

    Bryan,

Does anything in the paperwork explain if the rectangular sail panel lamps as correct or not?

    Wayne,
I am not sure what you are asking but if its the inside rear quarter panel courtesy lights they were part of the shell built by Fisher Body and would not be on any of the Buick Final Assembly buildsheets.

The rectangular inside rear quarter panel courtesy lights were part of the option for a Deluxe/Custom interior. The standard interiors would have come with a dome light only.

The codes for a standard vs deluxe interior are on the cowl tag.
