    OK Guys,
I have been doing a few 69 buildsheet decodes lately and found out I am missing some of the 1969 GS350/GS400 Wholesale Car Order Forms.

I have the "Revision 2" sheet but do not have either the "Original" version or "Revision 1" sheets.

What I am looking for are copies for information only, so it can have info written on it or can be plain, it doesn't matter to me. If I can get full size paper copies that would be great, and if I can get copies of the back pages so much the better.

You guys call yourself the Stepchild Nation, well I am trying to help you guys out but need a little info for verification.

PS. The last two buildsheets I decoded were both Stage 1s, and one was even a convertible. The one was pretty much a stripped down model while the other had some interesting options. Both looked to be pretty cool cars.

    Mike,
I have all the Sales codes but some were discontinued and/or changed availability thru the 69 model year. I figured out all the 69 Manufacturer codes I needed to decode the buildsheets I had, and verified them thru my assembly manual, but noticed I had a hole in my documentation and wanted to fill it.

All the factory documentation, ie Assembly Manuals, Wholesale Car Order Forms, and Microfilm "changed" at/near the same time as the options were changed or discontinued. That way the Factory and Sales Force could keep track of the various parts changes on the cars.

It also means if you only have the last version of the Wholesale Car Order Forms, and the last version of the Assembly manuals, it makes it much harder to "backtrack" thru them to figure out what an "early" car would have.

Maybe someone here could ask on the BCA board. One of their members may have something.

I did not check with Sloan but might have to do it. I do know for a fact they do not have all the revisions.

They were using a single version of the 72 "Wholesale Car Order Forms" to decode the microfilm for all the 72 GS cars and some of the Sales codes were not working out.

I was getting calls from guys trying to figure out their 72 Sloan decodes and found out that Buick changed the codes mid year. I let Sloan know what was going on and sent them a paper copy of all the 72 versions as a courtesy to their customers. After that everything worked out fine.

I have also decoded some (POBF) "Production Order Body Final" buildsheets for them. Those guys are great, and we have recieved some incredible info from them, including a bunch of pre-production GSX info. The least I can do is help them out when they ask.

    Bryan,
Yep, and its on the way to you. I think you will be very happy as it's one of only a handfull of 69 Stage 1's with documentation.

I had a hard time trying to figure out the 69 codes for the tire sizes, but between your sheet and a few others I was able to get it. It's pretty hard to cross-reference the manufacturer codes when you only have 11 Buildsheets for the 69 cars. Luckily most of them are the same as the 70 codes.

The most often changed option codes are tires, and after I got your codes figured out they didn't make sense. As that option was only available for export cars, and your's didn't seem to be one. Then I noticed your car was a lot earlier then my factory info, so I went back thru the Assembly Manual revisions and saw where it was changed from all to export only, so everything worked out.

Now if I can figure out the other 69 tire codes it will be fine.

The only one left to decode is a very very late 70 car with some really weird manufacturer codes. The sheet is more like an early 71 then a 70 but not quite. I will figure it out.

Duane, I received the pobf today and it looks great.I really appreciate the work you did for it. The fact that it came with AM radio, manual steering and no a/c is wild, but hey atleast I got a glovebox light .

Duane, here is the page Library Rob refers to. Of note, this is from a 1969 Buick Features dealer book that has a page specifically stating "Important Notice - Late Production Changes ..." so if anything changed from the first printings this has it.

    Thanks Alan,
I have seen ones like that before but unfortunately it is not quite what I need. It is a factory representation of the Order sheet, but has no date, so there is no way to know when that version of the codes was in place.

The real Wholesale Car Order forms have a date printed on the bottom, which lets me know exactly when they were referenced. This corresponds with the revisions in the assembly manuals, and is what I need to decode the Buildsheets.

It took me 18 years to cross-reference/figure out the majority of the manufacturer codes in the 1970 "Production Order Body Final" sheets, I can wait a while to find the 69 info.

It just means that for now I will not be able to list the exact tire sizes for many of the 69 sheets. I have most of the other info already figured out.

I'll put Duanes name forward, unfortunately Duane having not contributed to the libraries and most managing members being boattail guyd they have not seen anything from Duane. Not much - actually nearly no particpation from the A body /other model world yet.
