    Of the thousands of photos I took and the numerous labeled bags of parts, I did not properly mark/label remember the location/direction of the bearing caps and the shims.

    If I am not mistaken, the arrows on the caps points away from the carrier. The shims are beveled on one side, I don't recall which side the bevel sits. Some photos would be helpful. I remember seeing one e-bay that had some nice pictures; but, I cannot find the link.

    Thanks.

    Bevels out?
    Look at the picture and see what you think.
    Are you going to set your rear? What tool are you looking at to set the pinion depth? I'm trying to get up the nerve to do mine myself. :)

    Tom;

    Just to clarify, beveled side towards the wheels, flat side towards the bearing race?

    I am not going to tackle it myself; my Dad is coming over with the proper tools and expertise to do the job. I'll let you know how it goes.

    yep, from my picture I'd say its bevels out facing the wheels and the flat side in towards the bearings.
    Good luck.
    Since I picked up more memory for my camera, I've started to take only high resolution pictures. I think I take less pictures now, but I can zero in on a small portion.

    Thanks Tom;

    I am going to try to match the correct bearing caps to their respective sides; a little investigating work. Hopefully, I can find a mark/scratch that can show the correct side.
