I know I not in the right section for this question but this is only the second time asking help. What I need to know is I put a 455 out of a 1970 Buick Electra in my 1970 Skylark Custom. I used the fan shroud from Electra and also the 5 blade 20 inch fan. The fan did not set back far into the shroud so I saw on Buick Peformance Group to use Torqflo 922722 to make the fan
set farther in the shroud so I bought one but it reverse direction . Will it work running in forward direction. Thanks Gary

Not sure I understand what you are saying. What do you mean by "reverse direction"?

The product application seems to note reverse direction.

I don't think fan clutches care what direction they are turning.

I am thinking a torque converter does, but not so sure about a fan clutch. The ones I have feel the same no matter which way you turn them by hand. I could be wrong though.

I think they may, for the same reason of efficiency. Are the vehicles listed showing the other rotation because they use a serpentine belt? In those cases, the pump spins the other direction.

Thanks guys for the replys. I was told the reverse thermal clutchs are used on autos with the serpentine belt because on some the routing of the belt makes the fan turn in reverse. It may not make a difference but I was hoping someone had tried it . Thanks Gary

You should be able to find a fan clutch appropriate for your application. I would not expect a clutch made for rotation counter to what your fan should turn would work properly. Hope that made sense.
