I was looking at the pistons jtroop has for sale. Price is right but the compression distance of 1.45” throws me off. I think if I use a 7.1” rod from Eagle and use 3.98 stroke it will work out. The Eagles rod uses a journal of 2.2”. The pistons have a 13.56cc dish and are 4.38”. Cylinder heads are 64cc. I have three sets of head gaskets. .030,.038, and .041. I’m trying to stay between zero-.010 to deck. I would like to use what I have but I’m open to any other combinations.
Why would you want to go through all of that when you could just buy the correct piston? What block were you planning on using for a .0675 over piston?
That's asking a lot of any block. I don't understand why you would want to do that though. Custom pistons are very reasonably priced now. Read through this thread, especially JW's posts. http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/new-470-482-piston-options.324745/
I always enjoy your answers. You have good points. I was told a 4.38 bore would be about a 20 percent chance. The block would still need hard block. I’m not liking my chances of making this work. Thanks for your input
I wouldn't be worried about a particular block man,..I've never had a block sonic checked and built close to 20 450 to 1000k hp setups,..all lived a happy life,..we don't drive these things daily,. They get limited usage,...keep the rpm in check,...don't put them in 5k lb yachts and don't try to run mike races down the interstate
