Hey guys, I found these brand new seat belts in a crate of electrical equipment I bought at an auction. Does anyone know what type of car/cars they belong to? I spent a few hours going through a few Buick sites and Google but nothing comes up exactly like these. Fabric tag: Brown-Line Auto Seat BeltsMfg. by General Tube Company, Sturgis, Michigan.Model No. WB2025 DateMfg.Aug 1962. Inside buckle lid: Assy. No. WB530 Mfg. by Brown-Line Buckle. Pat. No. 2901794 Whaddya think??
Date indicates they probably were for 63 model year, and my 63 Riviera had similar belts when I got it. I would be interested in them if you decide to sell, as mine were lost when the car was apart for repaint several years ago.
Hi John, Since I posted this I did find a thread on AACA discussing a very similar buckle with the "V" on it. They don't look exactly the same but they were thinking that it belonged with a 63 Riviera. I hadn't really thought about what I was doing with them since I just found them today in my shop. If I do decide to sell I will PM you before I put them in parts for sale. I think you have to put a price though and I have no idea at all what they are worth. Never sold any parts before, just bought lots of them. What are the chances I would find brand new parts in an electrical lot and they turn out to be for a Buick? The buckles and webbing are in great condition but the metal mounting brackets have some white corrosion on them.
I should have mentioned there is two complete sets like this not just the one pictured. And I just realized one of the buckles sticks open. You have to push it closed but it's not bent or damaged. Poor quality control back then I guess?
Thanks for referencing the AACA thread---more evidence they are probably right for my Riv, even if they were aftermarket or dealer install. Let me know what you decide.
