For the last hour I have been searching my house for Mike's awesome GS production number book and can't find it. I need to crunch some numbers on my 71 Stage 1. Years ago, I remember going through Mike's book and being able to decipher the amount of stage 1 automatics painted black (code 19). I cant remember if the guide only lists Gran Sports in black or if it boils it all the way down to Stage 1s... Thanks for your help. I do know that 801 Stage cars were made in 71, 687 being autos.

I think that info is on Marco's Stage 1 site.

Does your car have sport mirrors Louie?

Jason, to tell you the truth I don't remember lol. It's been in storage for about a year. I'm almost positive it had a single chrome. I also don't have the build sheet so I don't know what was original. My green 71 has factory sport mirrors.

    Frank,

Marco's site only breaks down the numbers of GS cars for 71. However I got my answer already. There were only 204 black GS's produced in 1971 out of 9170 total cars.

Buick made 128 regal black GS hardtops in Flint. 19 in Framingham and 34 in Freemont. That's ALL GS's- 350's 455's, autos and 4 speeds. The DCR's wont tell you how many black GS hardtops were Stage 1's though

Correct, as Jason asked before, if you know if it had sport mirrors or body side molding the number could be broken down further but you still would not know if it was a 350,455,auto or 4 speed.
