Looking for a good rear housing, 8.2, to replace my broken rear. My internals are fine, so i just need a good housing i could swap my parts into. I have a grand national rear i might be interested in swapping for a correct width posi 8.2 or 8.5 rear to fit in my GS. Let me know if anyone has anything.

I might be able to help you,but no swapping,as I have a GN rear for sale also.I have a complete just rebuilt 71 8.5 rear with 373 gears.This has a new Auburn carrier,new 373 gears,all the brake lines.I also have a 8.2 rear,from a 70 GS 350,still in the car in my driveway.Bruno.
I have a 68 8.2” housing from Arizona. It will make a very nice rearend. Located in Erie,PA. I can strip to a bare housing and ship,if that is what you need.
I'm in central Jersey, Toms River, to be exact. Brian, what are you look to get for the housing? I'll admit to not being very experienced with differentials. I'm not comfortable with swapping internals on my own. Which is why i was willing to swap the grand national rear to save the hassle of building a rear on my own.
For the 8.5 I'll take $1.100.00,as to the 8.2 I still don't know if its a posy or not.If its not,it will not be too expansive.Bruno.
The GN rear is a lot narrower and the mounting points are different. I can sell you the complete rearend,but it sounded like you just wanted a housing. The rear that I have is still together. I know one of the bearings on the axle is bad,but if your shafts are good,just swap one. I would take $150.00 for the whole rearend.
I also have a 8.2 chevy rear end of of 68 elco.......all the mounts and shocks the same These do have c clips not bolt in axles Non posi.
