Coming to the Nationals this year for the first time. Bringing the Skylark for Fridays test n tune runs. Any tips, advice, or warnings to share? Thanks
Talk to as many folks as possible, don't be a wallflower. Find out where the Buick guys are going out to dinner or hanging out, You'll make more friends than you would expect. And have fun!!! (Hopefully I'll be there too)
after my "raising kids/getting divorced/starting and building a new business" break of 15 years or so I am FINALLY going to Bowling Green for the Nats!! got my flights bought, car rented, still have to reserve my room this weekend.
Mike try to be there for more than 2 days if possible. You will have a great time. If you are on a budget camp at the Campground. We have many times, it is a blast. We will be down there again this year. Stop by our tent area and introduce yourself. We should be the only front engine dragster there. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few months
All I can say is be careful. There are a lot of shady people that show up at the Nats. Almost all of them have Buicks...
This is going to be one of those Nats to remember. GSX reunion and Wildcat Nationals wrapped into the regular programming.
X2 Many a plan to race 1 day only has been shattered by rain. Try to get there to race on Thursday at least. Friday is the absolute worst day to try to get some runs in(especially a first timer) because in the morning the show takes precedence and then in the afternoon all the "big boy" classes get their couple of qualifying runs so the regular bracket racers get squeezed in when they can. You've been warned. However even in the rain the GS Nats is a good time. One thing for sure is if you're talking Buick anybody will talk to you.
Like Mike said get there early and know what class you want to race in. There were several classes my first year and I ended up not being able to race in the class I wanted because I arrived late on Thursday afternoon and the "Race Bracket " was already set by last round of qualifying.
I'll try to get there Tuesday. Any safe hotel recommendations? Tips to keep the car from getting stole .
Not a whole lot of cars stolen these last few years.......take the usual precautions and you should be good. Lots of us staying at the Red Roof.....plenty of parking lot fun in the evenings ! This is the year to come !!!! Peace WildBill
This will also be the first time since 1983. looking forward to putting some faces to the names. I will be the one from Wyoming. (Only one???) with my Sportwagon. We have a room booked at the Country Inn. (Across from the host hotel??) Tim Stop by and read the tail of an air cleaner wingnut. It will be with my car.
Most attendees will stay at hotels along Scottsville Rd. near the interstate. Check out the website below for the GS Nationals host hotels. http://www.gsnationals.com/index.htm
