Mystery air cleaner

    Has anybody ever seen an air cleaner like this one? It was on a 1968 GS400 that I once owned. It could have been taken off of a 1969 GS by the previous owner.

    The chrome lid looks correct for a Buick (or Pontiac), but I have never seen a chrome plated base before. I don't think a chrome base was available from the factory. :Do No:

    I've never seen a base with grilled holes all the way around it either! :Do No: Kinda wierd. And to think I gave it away . . . :(

    My guess is someone popped thoose grilled holes in a stock air cleaner, and chromed it...
