I am the proud owner of a 1967 Sport Wagon I bought out of Nebraska one month ago today. I found the car online and over a period of several months chatted on line and by phone with the owner. The car was owned by a Nebraska family and then sold at an estate sale, then the owner I bought it from has had it about 7 years. He is a car guy and has a resto/rod shop. He stripped the car to the metal, found no rust and gave it a $10-15K PPG single stage with clear paint job.

The wagon is loaded with options including:

    Power brakes,
    Power steering,
    Power windows,
    Power tailgate window,
    Power seats.
    AM/FM radio,
    rear seat speaker,
    custom seatbelts,
    carpet savers and handy mats.
ICE COLD A/C converted to 134,
    tinted glass,
    electric clock,
    luggage locker with lock,
full original wheel covers,(I changed to 67 ralleys)
    tilt steering column,
    3rd row seat,
    roof rack,
    10 bolt posi rear end,
    protecto plate.
Rare double black car. Professional repaint of a very clean rustfree car.
Original black interior in good condition that can use some work
340 4 barrel engine with the super turbine 400 transmission.

The wagon came with a set of new Firestone radials and drives like a new car and glides over the bumps in the road. I have had an itch for a wagon every since I had Chevelles and saw guys convert Chevelle wagons to SuperSport clones. I am thinking of putting a GS grille in the car as the red stripe would look awesome with the black and I have a couple of GS 400 complete engines and since the 340 in the wagon is not numbers matching have been thinking about rebuilding one of the 400's and dropping it in the wagon, star-wars air cleaner and all.

I am looking forward to bringing the interior up to the quality of the exterior.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Love it! Every panel looks straight. Was it originally a black car? It would be cool to put "Gran" script in from of Sport Wagon.

Man that's sharp! I don't recall, EVER, seeing a Black '67 Sport Wagon. Beautiful car Chuck, good luck with it. I think that it would look pretty sweet parked next to mine! :TU:

Very nice Chuck and Congratulations BUT I have to warn you of two important things

    1) your other cars will become jealous of how much love and attention your giving "a wagon?" and not showing them the love anymore

    2) how much more people are going to point, stare, ogle, admire, want to talk to you .. seriously - I thought the Convert. got decent play ? EVERYONE wants to talk to you about the wagon because EVERYONE grew up in one.

Smokey it is a factory black car which is what grabbed my attention when I first saw the for sale ad. I checked the trim tag on the firewall to be sure it was originally a black car. I am thinking about a double red pin stripe which I think would be classy especially if I put a GS grill in the car.

The front seat has been redone and is really nice with the original pleats duplicated and the previous owner even had the embossed trim cut out of the originally seat covers and sewn into the new covering and it looks great. I need to get the back seat and third seat re-done like the front. It also needs new carpet from back of front seat to tail gate and seat hinges and hardware cleaned and painted but that is all minor and I will have fun this summer getting it done.

The two things that don't work is the clock (duh) and the self-leveling system which has the components in the rear but no compressor under the hood. It has coil over shocks in the rear which work nicely but I could always add adjustable air shocks.

    Have a great weekend,

Exactly my sentiments when I first saw the for sale ad. The combination of being a Vista Cruiser and the original black color (with functioning A/C) plus all the options immediately had me thinking what can I sell to justify another car to the wife. I am already going to sell the 73 Riv when I finish tweaking it and will also sell the 89 Reatta. I am out of space and will be building a second garage soon.

Absolutely correct, the three times I have had the wagon out of the garage, once to have the wheels and tires changed, once driving it to the auto shop for some tune up, ball joint work and yesterday, taking it out for the photos I took, I get thumbs up and yelled at, "great car, what is it ? (make), what year is it?, and of course. "we had a wagon growing up and your car reminds us of it"

It is going to be fun going to car shows and meets to have folks enjoy seeing the wagon which down here in Texas we just don't see many of them. I will take it to a regional and perhaps a national BCA and AACA meets in the next year or so after I get the interior updated to match the quality of the exterior.

Thanks and yes, we need to figure a time and place for our '67 buddies to gather and have a fun time and foto fest. I agree your car alongside the Sport Wagon would be awesome.

Here Chuck, see if you like the stripes before you do it. I do........

i LOVE the re strip look, and if the Firestone radial whitewalls were not so new I would consider red stripe radials for the wagon. Of course I could always just swap the r and tires with the GS which has a new set of red strip radials on it. When showing the car or some special event I just might try that. I had not thought about it until I see the photos of your car and the red on black is awesome.

    Thanks.

Congratulations! (Re: My new Sport Wagon ride)

Dear Chuck and V-8 Buick longroof fans,

Congratulations Chuck! You've got a real winner there! I do hope you love wagons, because that will give you a lot of pleasure if you need use it in all the ways a wagon can be used . . . . just do it - gently! :)

    Cheers, Edouard :beer

P.S. My trusty wagon has been used in all the ways a wagon can be used  . . . . now it's time to learn that gentle touch!

Definitely one of the nicest sportwagons I've ever seen. And the black paint looks VERY well done. We all know how hard it is to get black right. It's a real looker. Congratulations!

Re: Congratulations! (Re: My new Sport Wagon ride)

I do LOVE the wagon, I had one of those WOW moments when I saw four photos of it in the ad during the Christmas/New Years holidays. Sort of like seeing a beautiful girl in high school and wanting to go steady with her right away ! The more I got to know about the wagon the more I wanted it and finally made the deal. I have followed your posts and admired your wagon many times over the past 5 months.

I made the deal in January and then had to wait until mid April to receive the car since the seller said he was coming to the Lone Star Nationals in Austin, TX and would bring me the car. Several times I thought about hooking up the trailer and driving to Nebraska and get the car but the crazy winter weather killed that idea. I thought him bringing me the car was a heck of a deal and it gave me 3 months to figure out how I was going to break it to my bride that I had purchased another car. Finally told her after the car was delivered to a friends classic car dealership and it was mine. When I told her she said "I can always tell when you are about to buy or have bought a new car because you begin the conversation with ' I think I am going to sell one of the cars in my collection". She knows me very well.

I am officially a 'Wagon Guy' for the long haul. Now I need to change my signature block and add it the collection.
