"March 16, 2017 Henry E. Brooks, age 86 of Midfield, AL passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017. Mr. Brooks retired from the U.S. Navy with forty years of service. He also was a retired agent at Liberty National Ins. Henry was a founding member of Dixie Vintage Auto Club in 1959 and served as President in 1962, 1964, and 1969. He was also a member of AACA, Crosley, Buick, Franklin, Austin-Bantan, and Kaiser auto clubs. Henry never met a stranger. He lived his life to the fullest by making others laugh and doing at least one good deed for someone everyday. He was never too busy to stop what he was doing to lend a helping hand to someone. Henry requested that we celebrate his life, not mourn his passing. At his request, bright colors, especially red, are welcomed at his celebration of life. Henry is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Marie Brooks; his parents, Joe and Ada Brooks; and his 4 siblings. He is survived by his brother, Arthur (Hazel) Brooks; sister, Martha Moreland; and his special companion, Jean Hinton. Services will be Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home. Burial with honors will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, March 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. "
