I'm guessing that's Jason's car.....sure looks like a NY inspection sticker in the window. Whatever it is, welcome back Taulbee!
Alright quick time out from the road... Adam and Chris for the win! I have oogled over this car since Cook first posted about it, and the desire became even worse at last year's Cecil event. Magically all of the cogs came together that resulted in me picking up the green GS today. I feel beyond lucky and grateful.. thanks again Jason for putting up with me through all of this!
I wish I knew you guys were going to be out this way. I would have taken a ride out to Cook's Buick Repair. Congratulations, that is a nice car! Just get rid of those 350 emblems on the rear quarters. BTW, it already has the Wizard recommended ignition timing.
Funny, even I don't remember what I have! My 70 Stage 1 is turquoise, the beater is tan, and the 71 is black. Im sure gonna miss that car. Perfect car for a out of state trip to a national event. Runs so well on the highway. Im glad its staying "in the family" so to speak.
Nice '72!! Does it have a sbb 350 in it like it says on the quarter panel? If so, will Justin pick up where he left off with the SP3 testing? That was a good thread while it lasted! Or is there an engine swap for it in the near future? Can't wait! Welcome back Taulbee2277! Derek
Congrats and welcome back. Looks good and no need to do body work, (I know how much you and Shawn miss it)
Its a really nice car he's got there. 31k mile no rust ever California car. All original and loaded with options- disc brakes, rallye wheels, buckets, console, instrument group, tach. 8 track, tilt wheel and ice cold air. I gave Justin the build sheet, the Sloan docs, a repro window sticker, the original McClellan Buick dealer plate frame and key fob.
All, I can't thank everyone enough for the warm welcome back! After the unfortunate result of the last car there was a genuine void in my life. At some point I have connected with each who have responded and I am happy to be able to relate again to the hobby we all hold so dear.. in short I missed you guys. And thanks to Shawn for being my v8 poster and navigator while I drove.. lot of hours on the road the past few days. I hear Johnny Law and common sense say it is very bad to be on a mobile device while driving plus its good to have an extra set of eyes.. kudos to those who drive for a living. We left Dayton at 1000 Friday, after a 6 hour nap the hotel departed again at 0600 Saturday, loaded and left Long Island around 1000, then finally arrive at Dayton at 2358 after 1371.5 miles. A few close semi calls (though mitigated by some damn fine driving by the semi operator), angry NY drivers, some very welcomed detours through the absolute sticks of PA and a tsunami in west Ohio resulted in me being able to sit in my garage at 0242 in the morning sipping on my aged scotch pondering the exciting road ahead. The plan for the car is quite simple, the last car had a fun run at testing out new parts and eeking out the extra 1/10 in the quarter mile. However I am proud to say this is the car will stay just as she sits. Im very excited to be able to cruise as the Buick engineers intended in 1972. The go fast and exploratory itch are still there but it will be in another Skylark. I can't in good conscious change this car especially since it has been blessed by The Wizard This corncob Ohio boy never thought I would have something like this in my lifetime. Larry I know I should have called but for the past 8 months I have developed the habit of not telling anyone in fear of all things falling out. Stay classy Buick folk, its good to be back. Justin
